Will a Predator Tune void my Chrysler/Jeep Warranty?

Pretty self explanatory. Just curious what mods I can get for my 2010 SRT8 to increase throttle response without voiding the vehicle warranty. Thanks for the help!

Pm championjeep on here, he works at a dealer and gives honest advice.

A tune is removable. If your worried about a dealer giving you trouble over a tune simply plug in your tuner and put the jeep back to stock for the trip to the dealer. Only time you'd have to worry about it is if the jeep has some kind of failure and won't start, in which case you probably wil have bigger worries than a tune.

Not 100% verified, but I heard that the "flash counter" can be adjusted so an aftermarket tune can be undetected.

It's gonna be a question that you better ask the service guy at the dealership that you deal with, based on past experience. Better to find out now than later. Had one dealership tell that I "better not even put a k&n filter" on my 6.7 cummins a few years ago because they were on a tight leash when it came to warranty service issues, if that "non original part" caused a problem, then its coming out of my pocket. Needless to say I found another 5 star dealer that was more "understanding" to mods and no problem since. Just make sure that whoever is doing your service is aware of what you've done before they start.(or take a chance of getting flashed by a parts changer)

Well my dealer is mod friendly and when i traded my 07 in i didnt have time to put the stock tune back in and i told them that so they said when we smog test it and if it fails we will have you put the stock tune back in. So with the cmr dyno tune in it it passed the smog test with flying colors. So they sold the jeep with the dyno tune and cai on it.

Based on the Magnuson Moss Act, the dealership can NOT void your warranty with any modification, unless they can 100% prove that the modification caused the problem that you brought the truck in to have fixed, so if they try to bullshit you, dont let em bud, but like the others said, some dealers are more strict on that stuff than others, so just talk to your dealer, hopefully they will relax on that.:D:D

Can one of the tuning experts chime in on this please? I am looking to buy a trinity but have factory warranty until 2015. I have searched but have never found a clear answer if the dealer can tell you flashed the ecu at one time and void the warranty?

Dealership can only void a warranty under two circumstances:

1. The vehicle has a salvage title
2. There is evidence of odometer tampering.

The dealer can deny a warranty claim if they deem a modification caused the failure.

We all know they have to prove the modification caused the failure but lets be real. It's a dealership! They will do anything necessary to not cover a repair. If you blow an engine or trans and they find out it was once tuned you know your warranty is gone... You don't have much of a leg to stand on with the dealership when they tell you no.

Its pretty cut and dry. They dont need to prove much. If you install a power mod on the jeep, and something in the powertrain breaks, warranty denied.

Yep I agree but we are getting off topic. What we want to know is if the dealer can prove we had a tune installed to void the warranty. I have heard there is a flash register in the ECU but don't know if its true. Just want to know if the dealer can plug in and say for sure it was tuned at one point and void the warranty...

If you install the stock tune back into the Jeep before bringing it in there they can not prove you had anything done. In my honest opinion, if you are worried that a tune will void your warranty then you're better off leaving it bone stock and untouched. Wait till 2015 and do any mods you want then. If you buy a performance vehicle and plan on tampering with it then forget you even have a warranty. It makes it a lot easier if you just don't think about it, TRUST ME. I have 2500 miles on my 2012 and have voided the shit out of mine and being the first to do the work to it. If it blows up, well then, I guess it's time to save up for a nice 440 build.

Moral of the story, don't touch it if you're afraid to void factory warranties.

I totally agree with you about modding and forgetting about warranty. I like piece of mind I guess and got burned on my last Yamaha R6 when the engine went. Just trying to clarify for everyone if they can find out if it has been tuned or not. I know the diablo sport people know...

I asked my service guy at the stealership back when I had my red 06' and he said no it wouldn't. I had some warranty work done on that and my 07 without any issues. My 07 is supercharged too, and still no problems with warranty.
