Just curious as i'm going to have my SRT8 fitted with an Intake and tune soon....does the tune help with the gas mileage at all?

I know these trucks aren't hybrids but i remember when i had my Evo and Corvette tuned the tuner was able to make the vehicle's run more efficiently.

Thanks

With all my mods in my signature my mileage has increased a bit... but not enough to save the ozone or anything lol... my best when it was stock was about 15.5-16 now its about 17-17.5 on the highway.... my town mileage is still low cause I like to floor it...lol

just got a custom tune from a speed shop here in NJ.

My MPG's in the city are low, or even lower because of traffic, and driving style. But on highway, it's nearly the same... maybe a slight, tiny increase. I used to get 16.1-3 MPG highway... now it's 16.8-9.

I have a 2006 with diablo plus cmr tune, mopar cai,180 therm, magnaflow muffs and a valvebody. I recentley drove from NY to FLA and only averaged 15 mpg! when I read that people are getting 16 to 17 mpg, I wonder why I'm not?
For every tick on the speedo you go above 70mph, your mileage drops like a rock. Set the cruise at 70 mph dead even. Let it go for at least 20 miles (hilly terrain will throw the numbers off but it will eventually average itself out, unless you're going way up in elevation) don't jam on the accelerator when you pass someone, just ease onto it if you gotta get around a vehicle, then let it settle back into cruise speed. Let us know how that works for you.

I got an increase in gas mileage when I did my CAI and Johan tune. I went from 16-17mpg at 70mph cruise, to 17.5-18 mpg at the same speed on the highway. Around town it really varies since you're constantly putting your foot down. There's no real standard to go by. I use the autostick and shift up as quick as possible around town, it really helps out.

After my cam and highflow cats I lost a consistant 2mpg on the highway. I asked Johan to see what he could do, he did some tweaking and I only got back about .5 to .8 mpg. So now I'm seeing 15.9-16.5 max on the highway at 70 mph cruise.

I figured the highflow cats and x-pipe would help it out, but apparently it can't overcome the +4* cam I have in there currently.

At 60 mph cruise we get insane gas mileage. With the CAI/tune, I was getting close to 20 mpg. I'm guessing around 18 mpg now cammed.

11.5mpg. Maybe 14'ish on a flat 65. Not the thing for fuel economy. Also, the computer lies. Look at a 5.7 4wd Laredo. They roll a 14mpg also.

with my tune i think i actually made it eat more. it also doesnt help that i cant go less than 80 with out being a sour-face- hahha i love the steady 90mph on thruways but cant keep it 90 for too long. i shuffle from 75-90 between "NO U TURNS" and hidden troopers.

i dunno, the slight difference isnt enough to write home about for me. i love this gas eater! hehe

cheers-

I saw 16mpg a couple of times on the road trip last week. Not too bad. I was happy about
that. The computer didn't lie either because when I filled up, I did the math at 15.6mpg.
