What software version do you have on the radio ? If it an early version the files are most likely gone for good. This was a common problem that Harmon Becker addressed several software upgrades ago.

i have 9.807

but like i said the files are still on there because the hdd says over 50% space is taken up which is how much it had before. it just says no music files...

 

I had the same issue, but was loosing my Sat Presets too. Had to get a new Hard Drive to fix the problem.

I was running 2.043 and still had the problem....
