My truck is on a lift gettin a bung welded in for my lc1. I noticed some oil on my starter. Has anybody else had an oil leak in this area?
Dang Paige! That's terrible. Hopefully they get your out of that Compass back in your Jeep soon. I wonder how the oil filter housing got cracked. Did they say how long it was going to take to replace it?Good morning,
Just wanted to say that I am going through the same thing right now. Last weekend I had the oil changed at the dealer like I always do. Got home and there was oil splashed up everywhere under the car dripping from several places. I went back immediately and the tech said, "my bad, the leak was coming from the filter and the o-ring was bad. I fixed it and it won't leak anymore." This past Friday I was driving to home and smelled burning oil. Got home to take a look and yup, more oil everywhere. However, my oil level was fine. I took it back yesterday and they said the filter had to be replaced and everything should be fine now. I told them to run it for a little bit to make sure. Thats when the service manager came out to speak to me and he said he hasn't seen anything like this in a loooong time but there is a crack in the oil filter housing and the housing needs to be replaced. Hmmmm....I don't know how much work is involved to replace the housing and what exactly could have caused a crack like that. Design flaw or over-tightening of the filter by the service tech? I will keep you posted on whether or not they fixed the problem as soon as soon as I get my car back. Right now they have me driving around the worlds most basic trashed out jeep compass. :indifferent:
PS. We've had 2 hailstorms in the past 2 days and they have my jeep parked outside....
