Got a question, my passenger side HID fires up no problem but as it is warming up it turns pink. Would I be safe to assume it just needs a new bulb? I don't think it is the ballast but has anyone ever had this happen? And I will be changing the light myself as the dealer quoted me $462.00 parts and labor..... I have done some reading here about changing the light and as much of a pain it will be for lack of room I will not pay a dealer that money for a light change!

That's insane to pay that. Yes your HID is going. Mine turned a purplish color when it went. Do both at the same time and shop around. Most retailers charge about $150.00 for a D1S bulb. You can try the vendor on here and I'm sure they can hook you up for much less than that. They aren't too hard to change.

Calgary??? Well hello fellow Alberta guy lol Good to know. Lots of folks in your area BTW. Yes Canadian Tire wants $150/bulb too lol umm no thanks!

That's a good price then for 2 at $169.00 all in. Don't forget to check out the Alberta posting area, we are all over it. Alberta has one of the strongest followings.

Thanks, it's Concept 1, they are more VW guys but I called Mopac to price the lights and they told me they don't carry the D1S but to call Concept 1. I called and they sell them in pairs so I will go there and check it out. They are just north of Blackfoot Motorsports on the same street.

So here is an update. Went to Concept 1 and picked up my TWO D1S bulbs for $169.00 and came home to install them. Thought it was going to be a hassle but it was actually really easy. Changed out both bulbs in about 20 min. Again.... the dealer wanted $462.00 parts and labor for one headlight...... maybe they thought I wanted the whole headlight assembly....

Problem with aftermarket, you never know what quality you'll get. I've been burned enough times by sub-standard aftermarket garbage....

I had the whole headlight assembly replaced under warranty due to a faulty auto levelling motor. I found the new HID was brighter than the original one. Unfortunately I didn't think to ask for the old part(s). Anyways, no big deal, some time has passed and they look the same. In the meantime, I bought a spare from a forum member here to add to the rest of the parts in my garage.
