I was just wondering if anyone has successfully fit a Trackhawk ZF8 HP95 Trans into a Cherokee SRT?
If you have done this please explain how difficult or if it worked out fairly well?
Much Appreciated!
I was wondering the same thing.
some of the research I have done leads me to believe this is quite a complicated process. The HP70 ans HP95 are different as far as physical size and the Hawk has a different mounting system than the SRT.
so you would need all of the hardware that attaches the 95 to the frame a different driveshaft and a new rear end which has more traction related “bars” than an SRT. I say this because it sounds like you want to make Hawk power in your SRT and engine setup using an HP95 would surely have over 800 to the wheels and that kind of power would shred the SRT drive train.
you would also need a replacement transfer case front drive shaft and higher strength output shafts from both differentials, assuming you are going to keep it AWD
Stock SRT parts cannot handle a Trackhawk level of performance, for very long,
I made the mistake of thinking I could transform my SRT into a Trackhawk killer which is possible but it would have been better money spent buying a Trackhawk instead of the SRT.
it can be done but it will cost you.
I would guess you could get it done between 25k and 30k with the parts and labor and if you are going to build, let’s say a blown 426, you are looking at another 30k. Those are the numbers I keep coming up with.
now before the haters jump in and tell me I am crazy we all know a guy that knows a guy who could do it cheaper but I am talking about a real professional shop for both that would give you real reliability and drive ability which Bubba can’t do.
