This may have been discussed but I don't remember. What do the pros here think about this?

The 6.4L crate engine is rated for 525Hp but the SRT is 470Hp. What are the differences?

I've also read some reports about the SRT 6.4L being under rated after dyno testing. What do you guys think?

When tuning becomes available do you guys think we can hit the 525Hp with just tuning?

What are the differences between the crate 6.4L and the production SRT 6.4L?

When we can finally tune them we will know for sure.

When the Chally first came out with the 6.4L they were dynoing at like 455 rwhp or something and everyone thought that the 470 was very underrated. It was more like 500 hp. But I'm not sure if anyone has dyno'd a new Jeep yet. But we all know there will be much to gain when tuning becomes available.

200,000 mile durability testing. apparently 6.4 production motor is very different from the 6.4 crate motor. the 392 crate has a different bore, stroke, and cam, as well as different heads, compression, and a different intake, as the 392 crate is based off of the 6.1 platform, the internals are forged on the crate motor as well. therefore, it cannot pass durability testing at 525 horsepower because of piston skirt issues when tested near overheat conditions, and the 392 crate will not pass emissions. Durability testing requires 200,000 miles mean time between failures and extensive testing under extreme conditions.
I was thinking of something along these lines but wasn't sure.

Hey Zac, there are some old posts on here about tuning being rumored to be almost maxed out. Due to trying to achieve the best mpg/performance ratio. There where dyno tests on the 392 Challenger when it came out in 11 that would indicate the factory HP rating is underrated. Not sure if that 6.4 motor with the 525 rating is the same as what is in the new SRT's, I don't think it has MDS or VVT.

Think a 55Hp gain is out of the question? Seen any similar setups gain this much? What did the WK1 gain at the crank with a CMR tune? Like 25-30Hp?

I've heard they come tuned with some pretty decent timing from the factory, and they are running like 12.2ish AFR...so not leaving to terribly much on the table.

392 crate engine was based on the 6.1 with ported heads and a mored aggressive cam. Dyno runs were done with long tube headers and free flowing intake and exhaust. Definetly not a production engine. The 6.4L runs pretty good timing and about 12.2 afr from the factory. They didn't leave much on the table with it. I wouldn't expect gains like we saw in the 6.1 which was run really rich from the factory. 55hp is not achievable with just a tune and judging by what I've seen, your probably going to be lucky to get 5-10 on the 6.4 with just a tune.

True that... and the "New"392 was such a disappointment for Chrysler on the first dyno runs they had to add the adjustable runner length manifold just to get the numbers they have.

Truely a epic fail for Chrysler... thats why the whole new 6.2 is being designed.
