Just encountered our first snow here in Ohio. Stock size Pirelli snow tires did a good job.

Awesome. We just got 25cm of messy snow in one day, and my 285 Blizzaks felt like they were dipped in sticky honey. Wide with pride this winter.

Just got my Winter Setup installed

OK went with replica spider monkeys in matte black 20x10 +50 for $625:

Ride is soft and smooth. Little noisier then PZeros at lower speeds. No issues what so ever!

I have a 2014 SRT w 20k mi
My tires are about done and yesterday I was driving I-70 in Colorado and was slip sliding much more than other cars
Tire rack recs the pirellis in stock size 265/50R20 super pricey and wide

I dont want to get extra, narrower rims, trying to have less stuff these days since Im moving around a lot

Looks like people are using the cooper setup on the stock rims 265/50/20 since the arent that much $
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company - Weather-Master WSC?

and yoko also makes a ice guard tire in the same size YOKOHAMA ICE GUARD IG51V

Has anyone used the yok setup? (Im assuming max rec rim width is 9.5)

With the 265 tires (cooper or yok) on stock rims, how much more exposed to rash?
(Ive already rashed up my rims with the stock tires)

Hi there,
I'm running a 265 wide Toyo setup and although I haven't had any snow yet to drive in they feel good so far. My girlfriend has the Yokohamas on her escape and I got to drive it a bit in some snow and they felt good. On the highway they are quiet and ride pretty nice.

I went for the Yoks
Pickup at tire rack in Denver warehouse, $155 ea vs the winter pirellis at 305ea
I didnt mention to the reccd indy 2 miles away that the rim was .5 inches wider than the max spec of the tire

They were a bit sloppy and overfilled the tires to like 47, i spend 20mins or so deflating them with a guage

Icy, late drive back to Vail and drove them around yesterday, car feels normal again in the snow

Just drove my 3 season pirrellis in like 2-3 inches of snow and they are crap! LOL. Going 15mph in took me nearly 10 feet to stop.

What is the consensus on slapping a 265 tire on the stock rims? After using the tire calculator, 265/50/20 is the closest in size to a 295/45/20.

Nobody reads the posts or listens anymore. Three season Pirellis will kill you under fifty degrees period eventually if you're a gambler have at 'er. 265s fit fine on our 10" stock rims even though the spec is 9.5" max rim. I've run the Toyos the last two years and they are champs and look almost as wide as the originals and are the same overall diameter and don't throw your speedometer out of whack for those of you who don't have a Trinity to correct. I know, I am a self proclaimed tire specialist, no, really I am, and was in the tire business for years. Hard to believe the amount of tire discussions here, all good fun, especially about the lesser quality, cheapass crap tires on an eighty grand muscle Jeep.

Which winter tire are you running? I was looking at the yokohoma iceguards. They seem reasonable in price.

Edit: I meant continental winterconctact SI. The iceguards don't come in a 265/50/20.

As a lifetime premium plus top'o'the line elite regular member here I'm responsible to singlehandedly rescue this site from the doldrums when I'm bored. I run the Toyo GS5 Observe or whatever and I know the Yokes are premium ice and snow killers too. I'm just having fun.

Oops I see you're running Continentals. Have heard good things about them. But do they have walnuts in them for sustenance should you get stranded in the nether regions?

I'm running Hankook iPikes. 265/50-20
Pic next to stock size SRT tire while they were being swapped. I went that way due to already owning them from my last WK2 - 5.7 Overland. So far so good. Track mode donuts on packed snow covered parking lots are way fun too
