Wideband Help.......

I want to get a wideband hooked up on the jeep and start logging using my trinity. So, I did my research at work and it was time well spent hahahaha (not really since I still have questions). I’m thinking of going with Innovate. Option 1: LC-1 cables- I know I can just go with the LC-1 cables but at that point I get confused. I don’t need a gauge as long as I have that cord that goes to the trinity Right? Now, if I do want the gauge is the MTX-L the same as the XD-16? I think as I was looking stuff up they said that the XD-16 was discontinued and that MTX-L was replacing that IDK. Option 2: Will the OT-2 work with the trinity or is that just something for the i-phone? Is it accurate? Looks cool and was wondering if anyone is running it. Also, I was thinking my phone could be my gauge and that way I could save money and not get a gauge mount and gauge. But I need something that works well and that is accurate.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You do not and you are right.
Ok cool. I was actually reading an old post I think you posted in 09 or so. Jose and you where talking about it but wasn't 100% if u needed it or not.
What set up did u end up going with?

I went with Aeroforce and the cord for the Trinity. MarylandSpeed sells them. http://marylandspeed.com/aeroforce-sensor-kit-wideband-airfuel-sensor-af-senswbk-p-2518.html
Ok cool. So now I guess a new question. Do the products have to be from the same company. For example does the gauge and wideband have to be the same manufacuor? Also is this a simple install?

I would but from the same company if I was buying a gauge. You need to get a bung welded into your exhaust and you need to be able to read and follow directions plus have the necessary tools to wire in everything. Simple to some difficult to others.
For Option 2:
I was looking at the OT-2 and it appears that it plugs into the OBD port. You would have to use an OBD port splitter if you wanted to use the Trinity as the same time. Bigger problem is that there appears to be no analog out connection so you would not be able to datalog with the Trinity... but it does appear you can datalog with the OT-2, the same data you would with a Trinity and connect a LC-1 via serial.

Not sure if there would be problems with the port splitter since two devices would be requesting data, but I think it would be OK as long as the Trinity and OT-2 have different CAN bus device IDs.

Not sure that helps... maybe someone that has a OT-2 can chime in.

Ok thanks for the input man. Guess at this point all call around for pricing if I need to get that welded in. Might as well have it done right from the beginning.

Well one would be getting the date with a WiFi signel and the other would plug. But IDK that's a good point.
What are you useing if you don't mind me asking.

Don't bother with that OT-2 Wifi device from Innovate.... Harrison had it and got rid of it.... I would stick with a Innovate LC-1 wideband and just the analog cable to the Trinity if you don't want to buy a gauge. If not buy the XD-16 if you can find one or a MTX-L. The MTX-L is about 1.75" to 2" thick versus the XD-16. which is .75" thick.... The only reason I bought a gauge is because I do not always have my Trinity installed in the car for theft purposes.

Really ok. Its not that I don't want a gauge (i want one) but I haven't found a mount I like. Is that really the only difference the thickness? Now you have that all hooked up. Did you do the work or did you take it to some one? Also this bung that goes in the exhaust does that come with it or is that something I get separately?

The bung is included when ever you buy a wideband... I believe its a steel bung, so I took it a step further and purchased a Stainless steel bung to weld to my stainless steel midpipes. Well the thickness is not only the difference as they claim the MTX-L is a Digital Wideband versus the XD-16 being Analog. I had Velasquez mufflers install my bung and I wired it all up. Mines been in for at least 2 years now with no issues...
Thanks chad.

That's the place that put my Borla in. I think they even kept my stock exhaust. I'll have to pay them a visit. Once I get it I'll hit you up bro.

Cool bro! Let me know I'll help you out......
Hmmm.... wonder what problems he had. They have a SDK available for it, so it could provide some interesting capability...

PM Harrison about it....
I did have the OT-2 for about a week then sold it. You can't run a splitter and run it with a Trinity. Won't work. Been there and tried it. What I didn't like about the OT-2 is it doesn't log STKR or LTKR. Just timing. That's when I bought my Trinity and haven't looked back since.

I been looking around on what to log, why log it, and what it all stands for. For example, what does STKR and LTKR stand for and why should I log it or better yet why do other people log it. I been reading up on this but have found different answers (what to log) maybe because they are running different cars or have different goals and thats why they log differant things IDK....
Any links on this? I should look in the archives (if we have one) might find something in there.
