I have a Valentine 1 in my Corvette and a K40 in the SRT.
With every other vehicle on the road utilizing radar in their cruise control system, the V1 is constantly giving alarms and gets turned off, turned down, or ignored more often than not. The K40 is programmed to only alarm when Ka band (used by law enforcement) is detected. It's an awesome unit that uses the vehicles' radio to talk to you and has no incriminating "little black box" sitting in plain sight for the smokeys to spot.
The Valentine was state-of-the-art back in the early 2000's, but my unit can't be updated (they tell me) to modern capabilities.

What do you use, and do you like it?

I have a Uniden R3 which has saved me many of times. I had the valentine 1 in my old Jeep which was good but like you said it had a lot of false alarms. I would say with the Uniden I only get false alarms with Honda/Acura’s other than that it’s really solid great range too.

I'm running the Escort Redline EX, with the Escort M1 dashcam attached. I get way more laser false alarms than I did with my previous 9500ix, and it doesn't seem to have the super long range of the old Redline. I may upgrade to the Max 360c someday.

I have an Escort 360 Max C and a 360 max. Both have new technology to remove cruise control stuff, plus they have the arrows now.

I traded all 4 of my old V1s in to Valentine for new ones under their discounted price exhange when this became a problem.
I love the arrows and range seeing over hills and around curves or a mile+ straight out.
I think it was $320.00 or something.
Don't know if they still offer that.

Thanks, 'Cruiser, I'll contact Valentine and see about 'trading' my old V1 in.

You used to be able to mail them to Valentine to have them updated. You could poke in your serial # on their web site to see if an update was available. They did mine.

They just sent me brand new ones.
It was about 4 years ago.
Don't know if they redo yours or send you a new one now.
Since they have the same case and controls for 20 years
they can reuse the old ones.

I just checked mine on their web site. Looks like mine is ready for a Gen.2 replacement, but they are shut down for Corona. Have to wait.

I tried that about six months ago. Their reply was that they had no upgrades for my serial number. :(
They still do the updates on some for 389.00 once they re open.
The new Gen 2s are 500.00
Here's a new Gen 2 available now on ebay for 650 yikes!

There's used Gen 1s on ebay that say they have been upgraded but it's buyer beware

I had a Valentine 1 I got about 5-6 years ago it never let me down, I do remember lots of false signals but nothing that got me into trouble. A few months ago my Srt Cherokee was broken into and well no more Valentine. I've been looking at the Escort 360C but only because I see it listed in top 10 searches for 2019. Still not sure which way I will go. Any info will be greatly appreciated and used to consider my next Detector

For me it's the excellent range seeing over hills and around curves and the arrows saying if the LEO is ahead or coming up behind or coming to crossing an intersection you're coming up to when the sideways arrows come on.
I put it up next to the A Pillar where thieves and cops don't see it.
If I do get pulled over I can turn it down and flip the visor over it so cops who come to the passenger window don't see it.

Don't you guys have fixed or mobile speed traps? I'm guessing the plod points and reads, and his detector takes a few seconds to register your speed?
I'd like a radar detector but I doubt I could react in time to slow down as the cnut in the camera van would have already recorded me speeding (if i ever was to speed of course due to a short lapse in concentration or when accelerating to avoid the plethora of pheasants roaming our roads this time of year).

Check out the V1 website. They have a new gen2 detector available when they reopen from Corona.

The V1 will pick up on the police before they can clock you. A 2 mile range on a straight.
Typically in my area almost all the state and county police cars have rolling radar. When they park over a hill or around a curve and have a coffee and donut they are stationary radar.
They don't have any vans specifically for speed enforcement.
They put stationary photo speed cameras on poles in school zones but then sent all the kids home so those aren't being used right now.
During Covid the police here are scared of getting it and not doing any traffic code or speed enforcement so you can drive as fast as you please on the lightly traveled highways weather permitting.
They're only coming out for accidents.
