Which Jeep do I have??

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. From the owner's manual, it appears that I have the Quadra-Trac I power train (full-time four speed, one low option), and the manual states that I am to use the ATF+4 transmission fluid in the transfer case which matches th QT I specs.

But if I look at the case, it appears to be either a NV-146 or NV 245 case. The QT-I NV-140 case has a damper which I don't have.

How do I tell what I have, and therefore what fluids I need during replacement?

You can look at wkjeeps.com, the nv-146 was only in the SRT if I remember correctly.
This is probably not the best site to get that question answered as this forum is specific to the SRT JEEP GC

There might be someone here that can answer that question but your probably better off finding a form that covers a broader range of Jeeps
U got a 3.7l wk go on www.jeepforums.com for more info or pm ik alot about it..used to have one
Figured it out

I think I figured it out. My confusion was that the owner's manual that came with the car stated that the transfer case used ATF+4 fluid, that didn't seem to match the box under the car. Well, I got a copy of the sme manual online, and this one states ATF+4 for the 3.7L, and a new entry that says NV 147 lubricant for the 4.7L (which I have). Now it is clear.

I wonder how many owners put the wrong type of fluid in their transfer cases by following the owner's manual?
Thanks. I didn't know if I had the SRT. My (dumb) question now is -- what is the Jeep SRT? Is that a model withing the Cherokee series?

The SRT8 is the performance model with AWD, and the 6.1 Hemi. ;)

I wonder how many people have no idea what SRT is for any model
