What Should I replace to use more lb of boost?

Hey,

I am planning to use more boost than just 6lb maggie on my truck

I have heard I need to have forged internal to use higher than 8lb.

so What do I need to change to make it forged internal, and how much would it cost?

should I increase displacement since I am doing all internals? or is just better just to keep it

forged 6.1L?

How far do you want to go? You can do forged pistons and rods and get away with the stock crank, but since you're already pulling the motor out might as well actually upgrade to a built stroker/heads and have the piece of mind that you can throw more boost to it without having to do it again, but at that point, you will need supporting mods like trans, driveline parts if your racing at the drag strip, added fuel....the list can get long. It's up to you where you want it to go.
If you plan to stay with the Maggie I would stay with the 6.1 or 392.
You will need a trans and exhaust too. Min 12k
I've read stock block can handle 500-600 whp. 8psi should be fine.
How much boost do you plan on running? 8psi and you should be fine. I'm now running just shy of 9psi on the street as my DD. If you plan on running 10psi, definitely forge the engine. I've pushed it to 12-13psi at the track quite a few times this season but that's with race gas and only being on it for 10 seconds. A lot of it has to do with your tune as well.

Not sure what it will hold up to with SC power but we have seen around 700whp with the turbo setup on race gas.
9 psi here , and Like Harrison said a good tune is the key .
I have a feeling I'm gonna be running 10psi on the street tune (on a cold day) once I get the 30tooth pulley installed.
I have seen over 9psi before right now with my 32tooth pulley... Gonna need to make sure it's safe.

It's safe don't Worry :D , don't p%&*$#@&* out on me now .
lol. Don't worry. I already ordered the parts, installing it all soon. No going back now.

But Ill try and keep the street tune on the safe side. I drive hard with my Jeep, I want it to hold up to my abuse.
I actually think I will see over 10 psi on a very cold night with WAY negative DA. Possibly 11psi.
The 30 tooth pulley should raise boost by about 1.5psi right?

C'mon scam. need those 10's!

what....? are u saying -DA gives u more (in psi) boost? uhh.

I'm all about the 10s! Working on getting there.

Was that wrong?
On a hot summer day I see 6-7 psi
On a cold day I data logged a run at the track and saw just over 9psi

The lower DA has more oxygen in the air... Since the air is more dense is makes more boost right? The supercharger is spinning the same speed all the time. But the density of the air changes... I was thinking the denser air seems to make more boost.

I am not the smartest about this stuff though.. Learning more every day though. :)
In the winter I'm seeing over 10 lbs of boost on my vortech with 30 tooth pulley.

Like everyone else said, its all in the tune. But you will also have to upgrade the fuel system at that level.

makes sense.

I have twin walboro fuel pumps on the way thanks to Stage 6. Ordered the fuel system before the pulley ;) my injectors are good to 600whp. I guess meth would be next next on the list if I am really worried about blowing up the stock block.
Yup I'd be very curious to see what my JEEP can do now at 30* and some -1000 plus DA .. Definitely making more boost and can't barely hook from 2nd gear now as it pulls like I'm on race gas, seriously .

he doesnt NEED a new exhaust.
