Hey,
Im trying to chose a cam for for my jeep. I have done some mods like cat back, headers, mopar cai, 180stat, bt catch can and diablo 93cai tune. Just like to hear some cam input from some of you guy's. I know people love the fri lil boy. Is this just bc it makes the best power? I guess what im trying to get at is are there any other good cams to pick from. I also have read alot about adding spring and push rods depending on the cam choice since the stock springs are only rated for a 580 lift or something close to that. Right after that I plan on having it tuned. The next step would be heads but dont have the cash to spend right now. Please let me know what you think

Thanks chris

Tons of cams to choose from. What is your main goal? 1/4 ET, top end, sound, etc

There's a lot of choices out there. I run a PPP Stage 2 cam and love it. You've got PWR, LPM, HHP, MWP..... list goes on. There are enough cam choices now to make your head spin.

I ran an [email protected] with stock heads on my Jeep. I had your mods and then a few more bolt ons. I got nothin' but love for it.

There are plenty of cam vendors, I recommend calling Andy at PWR to discuss your goals and he can get you a cam to fit them.

Thanks for the options I going to take a look at some of them. Harrison that is a pretty impressive qt run if you don’t mind me asking what other mods did you have on top of what I currently run unless their your own personal secrets which I understand then. Thanks

Does this mean the 224 does not work well with ported heads
?
Should work fine as Mondo runs the 224 cam with the PWR Mean street heads... If you don't plan on buying heads then you will need upgraded Springs, retainers, and forged pushrods.... Manuel aka SRT8POWER from Puerto Rico ran this cam with stock heads for a while and said it ran strong with upgraded valvetrain of course.

Not sure as I don't have that cam on my Beast..... I would think they would have it at 750 rpm, so that the Jeep does not stall out....

I feel with all cam upgrades you should upgrade the valve train
Bc most cams are really close to the maximum spring lift and
Yield points for all the other valve train components. Correct me if I'm wrong
Tho.
Thanks chris

Whoever is saying the 224 cam will "require" valvetrain upgrades is wrong. All of our camshafts are custom grinds for each application. In your case, we would keep lobe lift below 340/330 and you can use your stock valvetrain no problem. Duration, lsa, and icl will be the same but you will be giving up 3-5hp from the lower lift which isnt a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Or you can spend the money on springs, retainers, guides, and seals for that extra 3-5hp.

I had a 85mm TB, electric water pump, our ram air intake light, headers no cat, Magnaflow cat back, polished intake manny, cam, springs and rods, fuel rails with front crossover, rave gas, race tune from JerseyBoy, pulled seats, Stage 2 VB, and DR's. That's about it. The Norm. that everyone else has with the exception of the water pump and intake light.

How does the Jeep run on rave gas compared to race gas? :p
