What are the Features and Performance...............?

Hello everyone! My wife and I are in the market for our 1st SUV. We have been looking at a
few other models from different makes and may be close to settling on a JGC-SRT8.
We are NOT new to the Mopar SRT8 family but this may be our first Jeep purchase.

Comparatively...... What are the Features and Performance difference between the
2010 and the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 models?

Are there Trim levels within the SRT8 models? If so, what are they?

There is no 2011 Grand Cherokee SRT8. Production was from 2006-2010, resumed in 2012.
Thank You for the quick response scrapiron7. I guess I've gotten bad info on their production years
from 6 different sources. Thanks for the clarification. I have rephrased the question to (2010 and 2012).

What makes you want an SUV, what did you want to do with it (just have room for kids, etc), and what type of features are you looking for? It will help us with what info to give you.

Sites with good general info:

^^^ Good reading material, much appreciated.

We are looking at this SUV primarily for its 4WD + more room capabilities. We both
enjoy spirited driving from time to time and are unwilling to give up the enjoyment
you get when asserting that right foot. And the SRT8 seems to fit our requirements
quite nicely.

The new, aggressive body style of the 2012 SRT8 model first caught our attention.
There is very little in the way we would change in the styling department other
than putting on wider fender flares, beefier tires, dark tint and a de-badge process.

............The search continues.

BTW, when did Jeep make the sheetmetal change to the '12 model thats out now?

I'm not to up on the new wk2 srt but the body change was in 2011 and the new srt was released as a 12 model. I have a 09 and a few friends have nicely equipped non srt 2011/2012s. There is a lot more room in the 2012s, back seat and I think trunk too. I also think the newer srt is probably more all weather friendly but I never had too many problems getting around in my 09. I personally love the looks of the wk1 srt but the new one is probably a nicer all around vehicle and unfortunately they have a big price tag too.

The new body design was introduced on the 2011 GC, as said above, there was no SRT8 GC in 2011. The 12 SRT8 came out a few months ago.

BTW, the SRT8 is AWD, not 4wd......there is a big difference. The 06-10 have a RWD biased AWD system, under normal driving its 90% RWD/10% FWD.....when the rear tires spin, it can be as much as 60% RWD/40% FWD. Without designated snow tires, this model SRT8 can be very sketchy in the snow.

The new 2012 SRT8 is completely different, it has a knob that lets you select the traction mode......its 65% RWD/35% FWD in Sport and Track modes, and 50% RWD/50% FWD in Snow mode.

Just realized, I may have posted in the wrong forum. Does the W2 crowd
frequent this side much or would it be a best to repost the question on their side?

Feels like I took one offramp too soon and should have taken the next. :)
Anyway, sorry to be a pain

If space is what you want the WK2 is the ticket. You can also get the Overland with the 5.7 if you dont need the SRT performance. The Overland is really good off road.
As far as style, well thats personal preference....I think the WK1 looks straight mean, like get the hell out of the way mean. Have fun with your search.
