Hi have just joined forum and am looking for help/advice re some issues. Most of issues seem to have covered somewhere on the net at some stage but I thought I'd put it all together here. Apologies in advance for length of post.
Have involved Jeep UK in this as the Jeep was bought under their Approved Used scheme and has a warranty.
Got Jeep in Nov 11 and about a week later got Service Park Assist message whilst driving or manoeuvring in car parks/narrow streets - happened a few times. EML came on on one occasion.
Jeep wouldn't start one day - flat battery. Got it to dealer who partially recharged it and printed a list of 14 codes - all caused by battery. Messages came back after 2 days - new battery fitted.
Warning messages came back about a week later plus all gear selection indicators flashing together - no EML.
More serious issue however is that on 4 occasions pre Xmas when I've pulled away from rest and accelerate the power dies then suddenly the Jeep screams off in low gear only controlled by me braking then it settles down - pulling into traffic/coming out of side street/entering roundabout/moving off at lights.
Dealer had a look and suspected it was one of 3 modules controlling transmission but can't pinpoint which is causing problem - told to come back when EML comes on.
Service park Assist message flashed up over Xmas, gear indicators flashed together and EML came on. The morning (Jan 4) I was due to go to dealer the EML went out and dealer said it wasn't worth coming in.
Contacted Jeep Uk and asked for help on 4 Jan.
10th Jan - Sought legal advice from AA (our AAA) who told me to contact dealer I bought Jeep from in south of England (400 mls away) and inform them. Service manage from there advised me to take it to my dealer up here and ask for diagnostic as there should still be codes from last incident. He guessed that it sounded like a wiring issue. I mentioned that I'd seen forum reports of issues and he said that our Jeeps have different software and "take reports on the net with a pinch of salt"
12th Jan - no codes stored in Jeep, slight leak from gearbox plug.
13th Jan - Jeep UK have no answer because of no codes available, have suggested that when I go to dealer this week for gearbox repair, technicians have to check out idling as this may be cause of issue.
If you're still awake thank you for your patience - comments welcome.
Cheers
Robert
