My 08 tc has been nothing but problems. I bough the truck 1.5yrs used. The first time I brought it in to get repaired they said it looks like the seal. This is when the dealer also saw this same seal was previously replaced 3 other times before I bought the Jeep. So that was fix #4, and it happened again so they gooped silicone around the seal for fix #5. It started leaking a few months later and they said the rear end cap on the tc had been gouged where the seal sits from the previous fixes. Now, 11 months later and leak #7 with the new housing and seal. Two dealers later makes me think it's my specific Jeep. What can be causing this? Unbalanced drive shaft? Anyone else have a similar problem? The rear stock GY tires are 3-4/32nds smaller than the stock fronts. Is that a problem?

It's all stock except for cai and exhaust, no tune or anything. I'm positive those have nothing to do with it. I don't brake torque it either, just stomp on it at red lights!

When I had my seal replaced, they pulled the drive shaft and showed me something. The U joint that connects the drive shaft to the rear transfer case did not pivot smoothly, but kind of notchy. They said it means the u joint is going bad. They checked, and said it is not available on it's own, but you have to buy the whole drive shaft. Forget how much it was. I asked the dealer service manager about it, he said he knows about the problem. The notchiness does not let the shaft sit in the seal, but kind of pulls on it, making that seal weak and causing leaks. Still wouldn't warranty it for me though.

All fixed again under warranty... Hopefully this time it will last! They changed the transfer case external housing, the output seal, and installed a new driveshaft flange. This was Chrysler's fix. We'll see if it works! Glad they honored my warranty from the last repair (12 months 12,000 miles even though im out of factory warranty).

Hey guys. I'm having the same issue. My 08 has a t case leak. I changed the seal twice and I still get a leak. At times the u joint may kind of skip or jam at the odd time and you can feel it. Any suggestions

Mine was finally resolved. The dealer had to put a new rear cover on as well as the shaft that comes out of the t-case. Forget what it's called, but haven't had the leak in over a year.

Arrrr Krys, bend over!!!! Easy for the dealer to diagnose when they're spending your $!!!! I think I'd be taking it somewhere else for another opinion.

They said they can take it apart and see what's happening inside. I get the odd vibration and pop sound.

Now that's a novel idea on their part to actually take it apart & see what's causing the seal failures. Good Luck, I hope they find it & finally fix your problem.
