If you take this part off, will the tranny fall down very far? Will it wreck anything by doing this? And will I ever be able to get it back on by myself?

Put a jack stand under the transfer case The motor mounts should be able to handle it but that a lot of weight. I wouldn't want to test it.

Jack stand is the way to go. Why are you taking it off?

I'm taking it off to take off the front drive shaft, but I think I'm going to abandon that part, and try without removing that. All this to get to the ****ing starter.....

I have very limited tools and the car is only high enough to squeeze myself under.

Buddy just got his replaced for $400 including the starter.

Not possible to move it for reasons I don't want to get into. I have the starter with me, so I'm pot committed now.

The rubber boot compresses, put a screwdriver at the shaft by transfer case.

What's up with these starters? I have never seen one explode on the inside like this. A broken bolt, 2 broken magnets, and the little copper cubes that contact the motor on the inside 2 of them were broken right out of their casing. WTF?

24 ft/lbs for the front and rear of it.
