I need some help picking tire size. Any tire experts out there?

I have seen 285/30/22, 295/30/22, 295/35/22, and 305/40/22 used on the forum but how do you make the decision? There are so many variables ie. ride height, side wall, if width is acceptable without rubbing, does it effect speedo, etc.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I just purchased 4 22x10 polished (aluminum) rims with Nitto 420 285/35/22 tires from FREP. I've personally seen this combo on a black 2012 and it's incredible. Plenty of room with no rubbing and fills out the wheel wells nicely. Will look even better when bwoody springs are available.

So what made you choose 285/35/22 over the other tire options? (To clarify, with all the options i mentioned people said almost the exact same thing as you, "Fills out the wells and doesnt rub".) Just dont know how to make an educated decision here. Is it primarily personal preference?

2 reasons:

1. I personally saw this combo and I liked it.
2. According to David at FREP the 420s didn't come in a 295. I wouldn't have gone 305s. That really needs a 10 1/2 " rim.

And yes, personal preference is always the reason.

Thanks.

I think im going to go 22x10.5 or 22x11 so i will have to look into which tires actually fit. The 305/40 looked really good but I was worried they were going to rub or mess with the speedo. Hopefully thats not the case because the 295s looked awesome but the rubber seemed pretty thin.

Anything over 285 will cause speedo issues.

Found a site that does tire calculations and speedo changes.

Stock is 295/45/20
-Sidewall Height 5.23 inches
-tire width 11.61 inches
-tire and wheel radius 15.23 inches

Aftermarket im looking at is 305/40/22
-sidewall Height 4.80
-tire width 12.01
-tire and wheel radius 15.8

At 60 mph speedo will say 57.81

Not as big a difference as i thought it would be.
