Thoughts on painting intercooler black?

I have read a bunch of threads on this on other forums and with very mixed reviews some think it will affect performance some think it wont?

Whats your guys thought on painting intercoolers?

I wanted to do a really light coat of black on my intercooler.

Has anyone done this I searched and found nothing.

I'll answer this...

Once you go black you will never go back!!

The intercooler needs to be anodized black, not painted.

Yes don't paint the intercooler, you will be trapping heat in via paint. Anodizing just adds a colored impurity to the metal so you should be better that route.

I told myself if I ever get FI With a front mount it will be black.

i painted my ic on the gn with a radiator paint in black and love it. didnt notice any difference in intake temps after painting it. I did only paint one side though, dont know if it makes a difference.

IMO paint on the front wont be significant. The duty is in the air flow thru the IC core. Just don't push paint deep into the core, dust the front of the IC with the paint and you should be fine.
