Why would anyone let that goofball touch their $230k McLaren? The best thing I heard in that story was that he wasn't touching the suspension. Considering its considered to be one of the best handling cars of all-time, its probably a good move. Also, since McLaren is one of the best at engineering, why would any fool bring a new one to that donkey? If the Henny Jeep is almost 5 times the sticker price, I can only imagine if that standard holds up with the McLaren and he charges over $1 million to ruin a great handling supercar!

He gets his business from making spectacular claims to so-called automotive journalists, and getting his jizz flung all over their flash fish-wrap publications. It has nothing to do with reality, or common sense, or good business... only advertising.

Its too bad that these fat guys who write this stuff, still living in their mom's basement, give Henneseey a complete pass on his record, and let him stand on the baseless platitude that he's some sort of modern super-car builder akin to Saleen or McLaren... a joke as old as the 1994 Viper. I have no idea what their imfatuation is with Spackler.

Yes, I do like their appearance of the cars they do, but the pricing is ridiculous. People just have too much money and no brain.
I hear this thrown out a lot about tuned packages from cars of all makes and uses. I totally understand what you're saying, and in my old/traditional point if view I would think the same way....

However, given the financial resources of the type of people that buy his cars I know it doesn't matter to them. There's plenty of people like them that can afford this car in showroom trim, the buyers know this....so if they have the means they're gonna make it worth "their" while and get a customized version in extremely low production. I can see it not being worth 230k to buyer if someone else in their wealthy neighborhood/town has one right down the street. But it might be worth 450k to them if there's only 20-30 built and it looks remarkably different.

At that point they don't think like us, battling with the dollars/horsepower argument in our heads, wishing if we had the cash we'd do something more worthwhile with it. But I guess that's why the rich get eccentric...to differentiate themselves from other rich people. We all bought the SRT because its badass and to differentiate ourselves from people driving lerados and standard limiteds....I guess you could put this in the same category lol

I in no way endorse John Hennessy and think he is a piece of $hit putting out subpar products, but he is an innovator and has really carved out a niche for his business...and that is the American Dream, shady or not.

Edit. The Mp4-12c is not a supercar. It is an exotic. The F1 replacement will be a supercar.

For the love of God people stop calling every sports car and exotic a supercar!:D

And I agree with others. If you want the nastiest beast around, you don't go to Hennessey. But if you want a name brand tuner to mod your ride, Hennessey is a good choice. It's kind of like Gemballa or Ruff (only Ruff is awesome). They aren't the fastest but they have brand recognition. It's no different than buying Gucci or Prada. Both are shit products given their price, but people buy it. Why? Brand recognition. The highest profit margins are always on the top ticket items. As a businessman Hennessey is smart. I guarantee he is raking in the dough compared to other tuners. I would never send my car to him but I don't begrudge or knock his business model. He knows how to market his brand.
