Samler Pulley for my Vortech means also a shorter belt ?

2954 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  sww
Hi,

I would like to get a 2 sizes smaller pulley on my vortech kit than it comes standard to get additonal boost.

I think the correct part No. from vortech would be 2A036-287 (6Rib Pulley, 2.87").

Question is do i also need a shorter belt then ?
If yes, can anyome give me the part no. or tell me where to buy ?

Thanks !

Take care

Yes. You'll need a shorter belt.
One size down = 30t pulley NO
Two size down = 28t pulley Yes
OK, this maybe a dumb question, but what is now the correct part of the pulley for me ?

I looked up at the vortech homepage and i thouht this pulley would be the correct one:

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product_variation.php?pvk=280

This one don´t have Tooths .... .

Or is this not the correct one and i should use another one ?

Thanks for the inputs ... .
Any hints for the correct length of the belt and where to get ?

Thanks,
Take care

Unless someone knows the part number for sure. If not I would wait until tomorrow and call Vortech during normal business hours and have them give you the right part number.....
Hi,

Yes - but calling is not so easy for me since i am located here in austria and we have a time difference.

What i don´t get is that the pulley which is shown at the Vortech Website is a 6-Rip Pulley without any tooths:

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=42

And this one from the speedlogix store has tooths:

Do i have to change both pulleys ?
Sorry, i am confused ;)

Thanks,
Take care

No worries.... Yeah the one from Speedlogix is the Cog pulley, which says 28T on it... From what I have seen that is the one you should change.... I will have Paulo confirm it for you in a second......

If you want to go two sizes smaller then you want a 28 tooth pulley this is the cog drive pulley that is directly off the supercharger head unit. I hope you are planing on tuning for this cause as far as I know only two guys here run this pulley and it's quite a bit of boost for a stock bottom end.
just did it about 2weeks ago...had to replace both pulleys and belt.....but also had probs with the fuel pump your running ....i had to upgrade to a fuelabs pump....and have it pro tuned on a dino
I am running the 28 tooth pulley with a Gates Powergrip GT2 (6008MGT20) belt. It works great. Just do a search and goggle that belt part number and you will find several on sale for under $20. Do you have a forged bottom end? I am running about 11.5 lbs boost with the 28 tooth. You will be rolling the dice with a stock bottom end.

What do you mean you replaced both pulleys? You only have to replace one pulley just the one directly off the blower.
Guys I think the op means changing the Jack shaft pully the one that will spin the cog pully not the pully on the blower head unit! I believe Grip Grip has done this pully swap & had it coated to prevent the 6 rib belt from slipping..with that being said, most will change the pully off the supercharger head unit..
sorry about that...your right...i did go off the jack shaft...i was told i would have less problems with belts sliping
