I too have received the Canadian safety recall P57 notice to complete the work.

The dealer have parts on order with up to 6 free Fobik replacement keys .

Finally !

 

Just checked the dealer today and they said Chrysler still hasn't released the parts, whatever that means.

 

I got my recall notice today, ran the check and it said parts are available. I'll check with the dealership tomorrow and get the skinny.

 

Mine is booked in for this Monday .
There seems to be a lot of slow allocation of parts to the individual dealers from Mopar Canada .
My dealer says they are allowed 4-5 per week . Period.
I also have to prove that my 4 fobiks work before they replace them .
Uh huh . I'll post any results .

 

If this is the same recall, I got that notice last September, and when I sold the Jeep in April, they still didn't have the parts.

 

Yeah I just got mine a few days ago as well. I had been moving around quite a bit last couple years though....

I've never been concerned about this recall however. Aren't they just putting a stiffer spring in bc people had the tendency to bump the key wiith there knee or something? And if that's the case never really understood how. I'm 6'2" and never had issues.

 

Picked up the Jeep this afternoon with a new starter and DRL active. They fixed the recall. Key fits in tight and to turn off and remove you have to push in hard and then turn. They even put a sticker on....

They used the following parts

Jeep went in Monday 8AM Oct 19th , got it back at 1 PM .
New dash switch installed, 4 new fobiks . ( had 4 originally )
Keys in new fobiks were just the originals transferred from the old ones.
Display messed up back to factory default , just reset back to my preferences.
Done .

How somebody moved that fob with his knee is still near impossible .
I wanna see a vid of that !

 

Mine is being done as we speak as well as the real issue truck is at the stealership.

 

How long does it take to do this recall?

 

Time says an hour, they still have my baby though. Due to the battery error light on the dash.

 

Not sure how long it took. Had the car in for two days to do other stuff and waited for the recall parts.

I think my bill states 0.80 hour, although that might be just what Chrysler is paying them to do the recall.

 

Ignition is like a damn vice grip!

 

just had this done yesterday on mine. I only had one keyfob, they gave me two new ones and it took about 1.5 hours. I have had my car for less than a month and I was gonna get another fob for it but checked the recalls and p57 came up. Called the dealer thay said they had the parts and set it up

 

Does anyone know if they reflash the PCM to do this recall. I don't want them to screw up my dyno tune for my Maggie.

 

I'm bringing mine in tomorrow and talked to the service manager before-hand to make sure they understood they can't touch the pcm and he said it was just replacing the ignition and nothing to do with software.

 

They more than likely do because they plug the starscan. I unmarried my predator just to be safe

 

My -06 is going to have this recall P41 done on wednesday.
-07 has same operation reserved for 03.11

 

Got mine back, they said they didn't need to touch anything other than the physical ignition itself.

^ I think you didn't get what you should have .
New Fobiks are included - unless you just had the metal ignition and keys .
I received 4 new fobiks - they just transferred the original metal keys with
transponder heads into them .
They made me prove that all 4 worn originals ( that I got with the truck ) worked.

Maybe it's different for wk1 vs wk2. I have an 06 and didn't get any new fobs.

 

My 07 had P41 done today. New keycylinder is night and day difference to old one. This thing is like a vice grip.
Turning from ACC to ON pops up the key cylinder a bit and locks the key in place.
To turn OFF you need to push the key and turn left. Otherwise will not turn off.

 

My 06 was done today. It was really suffering because of this ignition switch/key cylinder issue. I had intermittent cluster blackouts when driving over speed bumps . Basically whenever key even slightly moved in cylinder it happened.

No issues anymore!

It could. Tap the key while you drive to see if it occurs. There are some other things, but start with that.

Mine did the same, but it was the TIPM that was causing it.

Great news if the recall will fix it! Because replacing the TIPM is a sickeningly expensive job. I have better things to do than to throw away $1000+ on something that should not have broken in the first place, and doesn't on most other vehicles. Been making cars for over 100 years and we don't know how to reliably power the instrument cluster yet???

 

I'm sure they know how, it just costs more to produce. So they go with the "just works good enough and maximizes profits" path instead.

 

My Jeep was having some problems a while ago. when I would turn off the car, the key would only turn to ACCESSORY mode and not to OFF, so I could not remove the key. I needed to turn the car on again, mess with the steering wheel and shifter, then it would turn off.

One morning, I go to start my Jeep with the remote start button on the remote and nothing happens. I try starting with the key in the ignition and the engine turns over but won't start. It sounded like no gas was getting to the motor.

I get the recall done and it solved everything. I guess the built in security system in the key killed power to the fuel pump.
