I just had my Jeep in for replacement of the rear shocks which were shot, and as i was looking in the fenderwell i saw that on both rear wheel wells, that on the rear half, there is a plastic fenderwell cover....which is fine.

What concerns me is that the front half of each rear inner fenderwell looks like exposed metal. Is there supposed to be a plastic cover for the front half as well....or do people just spray some form of rockguard spray in there as protection from rocks being flung up at the metal?

I apologize for the dirty nature of the photos...it's 27 degrees farenheit and mucky as heck with all the melting snow and sand on the roads.

Here is a pic of the rear half:

And now a pic of the front:

Can any of you let me know if this is normal to have the exposed metal, or am i missing some form of protective covering in my fenderwells? If so, is it just a "rockguard" type spray on product?

Thx for the reply. I spoke w a parts person at our local dealership and from their exploded view diagram and parts list, they couldn't determine one way or another if there was supposed to be just the 1 rear shield or if there was supposed to be one for the front half as well.

I'll have to recoat the metal come spring the snow melts...

He didnt by chance give you a part number or price for the plastic part did he?

Mine got a little tore up when I picked up something in my tire and it flung it up and cracked it. Thank God my tire was do for replacement because it was a decent size hole.
