After all the hype on here, I finally decided to go with the R1 Concepts brakes instead of buying the pricey Brembo OE replacements. I went with the drilled and slotted Geomet rotors and the R1 ceramic pads.
All said and done I am extremely happy with the results. The performance is great. Definitely notice a difference in the initial bite when braking, nearly bounced my forehead off the steering wheel the first couple of stops. Braking from high speed has also been improved.
They seem to dissipate heat well, with improvement in brake fade. I’ve pulled a trailer a few times as well(not a huge load, helping mother-in-law move some furniture) and they stop the big girl and a trailer with no issues. I was worried about comfort going to slotted/drilled rotors but they are nice and smooth.
You get a little very slight rumble when braking from high speeds(80-90 and above) but nothing unnerving. Otherwise, no comfort is sacrificed with normal driving. The few times driving in the rain and when coming out of the car wash have been a noticeable improvement too. There is no more “drying time” when the rotors are wet, they just grab like normal.
