Question about maintenance costs

May sound a little strange coming from me. But I am curious about how much you guys typically spend on maintenance throughout the year.

With as much time as I have spent around them I have never had the need or desire to look into anything. I know how much oil changes are and simple services. I am curious about the occasional brake job maybe tires when you need them.

I have a slim chance right now of getting into one but I need some idea of what to figure in for the not so expected costs.

Speaking based on my records averaged on a per year basis :

Engine Fluid services : $650
Brakes & related : $550
Power/Drive Train : $200
Tires: $650
Misc repairs: $250

These prices include shop labor and parts :)
also note; I am anal with my cars .. and often service & replace parts preemtively

Hope it helps !

This year I did:

$120 for oil changes all year
$550 for transmission, front and rear diff and transfer case fluid changes
$1100 for 4 new tires
What Jeep do you have your eye on Don? Year? Color?

Fluids, tires, brakes are the 3 major things.

I have seen a few 06/07's that are looking to finally be about the right price for me.

As for color.....gotta be black or silver:D
i got my jeep back in may 07 with around 22k miles. right now on my ODM reads 95k. so yeah my car is a daily driver. regular oil changes every 5k. TC and DIFFs fluid changes every 15k. tires are about every 2 or 3 years. stock rotors warp really quick. maybe every 30k stock rotors are warped. first time i changed my stock rotors with another set of used good condition stock rotors around 30 - 40k then i changed it out again around 75k ish with aftermarket slotted/dimpled rotors. brake pads about every other year. those are your main things. oh wait... i almost forgot... fuel... lol you will be visiting the gas station more than anything.
Thanks for the input guys, this is exactly what I need to help my desicion process.
I am gonna crunch some numbers and then I will be actively looking for either an SRT8 GC or an SRT8 Magnum
don't forget gaz if you have a long commute....

I am well aware of that but right now my commute is 2.5 miles and when I move this summer should be about 10-15 miles. Any SRT is going to be better than the 12mpg I averaged in my Dakota R/T:cool:
Don,

My maintenace bills are pocket change compared to my mod bills
I would say 4-5k a year for me. Most of the cost was new good years all around. Without a tire change my fluid services 2-3k a years. Regular oil changes, transmission service (drop pan change filter), diffs, t case.

Believe me, I would love to have that problem. But after five long years of selling and working on them I am finally in a position to buy one. Nobody out there....nobody wants one more than I do. But even if I do get one now I wont mod one thing until I have it paid off. With the wife an three kids at home I just wont be able to afford it.

My commute is about 12 miles one way, and I get about a week and a half out of my tank at $60 a fill up. Granted, I keep my foot out of it, but around here if you don't, you'll see blue and red lights more often than you wish!
