O.k. all...i'm in need of some help.
Not yet ready to buy but hopefully soon..so i'm gathering as much intel as possible.
She likes the price of the TBSS..I like the looks of the SRT8 much better but have to admit the price of the TBSS is much more attractive.
My buddy has an 08 TBSS and says its just as fast as the SRT8..mmmm I dont think so. Also he claims for alot less you can mod the TBSS to be pretty f-ing fast.
I've seen some vids and done some reading and yeah they can be made fast.

So.......I need some pro's and cons of both the SRT8 VS TBSS

In the past 3 years i have spent around $ 10-k on my Duramax and for a 9500# dually...she's f-ing fast...mid 12's...and thats at 6500' elev.
I'm not going to go as extreme as I did with my truck on either the SRT8 or a TBSS..but probably looking to spend around $ 5-k..
So what would that get me to :
1. keep it as a daily driver
2. not be back at the shop every other week to re-tune or tranny adjustments...etc..
3. Be fast enough that I can still feel good about.

Thanks all

Chevy put the " BS" in TBSS

Up here in Denver the TBSS's run about 16's and stock SRT8's run mid-14's.

TBSS has the old 4-speed trans. They are super prone to failure. The TBSS does however have a much better AWD system for driving in the snow. It doesn't wait for the rear to slip to engage the front like the SRT does. I was interested in both at first too, but in the end(one test drive) I got the jeep. Much quicker, more aggressive looking and fun to drive.
Stock TBSS is much slower than the Jeep. TBSS interior is 1990s GM. Seats are not very comfortable. Harsh shifting 4-speed transmission (!!). No Brembo brakes. You get what you pay for. Go for the Jeep!
I had one, and can echo the above. While pretty cool, they are totally common place, you enjoy no exclusivity. Exterior styling is pretty bland. The interior is superbland. The motor is the only thing really going for it, you can find anyone to work on it.

Mileage was a bit better than the jeep...

My trailblazer never felt "quick" and did not turn heads...
My buddy has a RWD TBSS with every bolt on possible and i still spank him pretty bad with my Jeep. The issues i have seen on his TBSS are: 4 spd trans sucks big time, he has replaced/rebuild twice, he had his engine replaced once by GM because cyl6 was starving of oil, 4:10 rear end is overkill and his TBSS does worse on gas than my Jeep, the seats are very uncomfortable, at least to me since i am use to the Jeep. I originally wanted one since they are veery cheap, but not worth it. Even he told me so.
on paper they are comparable, but in reality its no comparison, plenty of them around here and nothing wants anything to do with my jeep.... neighbor has one even, i hear the TB is prone to electrical issues...

i know you like the TB pricing but like i always say " you get what you pay for "
Go with da Srt8 u wont regret it.
I was thinking how this discussion might go if you posted the same thread on a TBSS forum.

yeah but they have no hard facts to prove ours is worse, cause its not physically possible... at least we have data :D
My buddy has an 08 TBSS and says its just as fast as the SRT8.
:D Show him this:

Get the SRT8.
The ONLY thing the TBSS has over the SRT is the amount that it can tow. Other than that.... jeep wins everywhere. Like Bernie said, post on the TBSS forum and you'll get everything except the kitchen sink on why not to get a jeep. However, their not facts. How many guys have you seen go from an SRT to a TBSS? I dont think i've seen any in the 2 years ive been on the forum. However i have seen 4-5 guys come from a TBSS to an SRT and say it was the best decision they ever made.
Wife wants a TBSS .........................Husband wants a divorce. LOL

It's never happened, no one would want to encounter such a tremendous downgrade.

exactly! !!
Show her your pimp hand......LOL!

SRT8 > TBSS no contest.
I was in the same boat a couple of months ago take her out and drive them .
Style SRT8
Brakes SRt8
Motor SRT8
interior SRT8
Rims SRT8
Price TBSS Cheaper isn't always better
I own both cars. There is no way a TBSS is as fast as a SRT. Both have there good and bad points.
Buy the car that suits your needs. The TB is a decent car and has adequate power when you need it. My wife drives it and she loves it. I've offered to get her something new as it is an 06. She says there's nothing wrong with my car! So she likes it just fine
The jeep is my baby and I can't see getting rid of it for anything.
It all depends on what you need first and want next. When I bought my jeep I didn't need it but I damn sure wanted it!!! I have had minimal problems with both since new.
thats just piss por shame.... anyone that has one isnt going to admit theres anything wrong... no one wants to hear their shit is junk
