Hahahh........ yea l know that bad taste ........ l bought my jeep modified couldn't beat the price so l said f it. ....... thankfully running like a chanp with 88k miles....... had my mechanic go thru it he said it's solid. I just need a re tune clean up the tune for the motor and Trans.These 6.4’s can’t even handle being stock. No way I’m modifying it. There junk !!

Sorry buddyWas pulling into a driveway and it died. Won’t start. Just cranks. P2172 code. I’m thinking a spring broke. Dropped it at my buddy’s shop and will dig in not it. 72k. Funny thing is I just drove it to Fla. to compete in Mshs and had no problems. Dam 6.4’s suck

Sorry to hear that, I've had a p2172 & p2173. Motor starts but dies within seconds. Turned out to be 1 intake valve spring broken.Well let’s update this thread.
Had the new motor in for about 6-7000 miles now and guess what? It’s sitting in my driveway till 12/18. Yup don’t start. Died on the road. Had to have it towed to my house because the dealer is backed up till dec.
no crank. I think it blew again. I have a p2172 code. 6.4’s suck

Hey Mornin , pls tell me about Non Mds Lifters pls ? I currently have a p0307 Cyl 7 misfire.. Bitch runs fine 80-90-100 Np just have a Stumble at idle.. Stopped by dealer and texh says he thinks its the Lifters and i need a top end rebuild. Headed to dealer in an hr for appt to get a real diag. Im Pray its just a Coil or injector but… 46k on her and i take care of her better thann my Gf! No Warr either itsa 2014 only reason ima go thru dealer is for Warr on new parts but what other Opt’s do i have??Renfrick, What caused the original issue and current issue- Lifter, Spring, Valve?
I had a Lifter go just after Warranty expired( although brought in in Twice with Lifter knock while still under Warranty)
Sure Enough yep #6 Lifter went.
Instead of spending nearly the same Coin for a Stock 6.4, had BES and HHP build me one. (obviously spent a bit extra for better engine)
MDS Lifters definitely a week link with 6.4L.
I highly recommend installing non-MDS Lifters
Thank’s for the Info. So i dropped her off yest. Tech says most likely it’s a valve from cyl. 7 and that reason the faster i go the less i feel it is cause the engine is spinning so fast that its doesn't have time to Sputter. He say’s most likely its top end only since there is no noise from the cam at all. He looked up parts for only one side of eng. Cyl 1.3.5.7 the complete head was bout $1200 and labor was bout $1800 at $250 p hr Fml..Then some more parts (Gaskets Oil change and Bs) so like 4k+ But that’s w the exist factory cam and not touching the other side of eng. leaves me open to this happen on the other side ltr down the road Rt? To do both Side’s from STEALER is prolly like 8-10k only benefit would be Warr on heads if it did happen again!LI- NON mds lifters in an auto equipped ride need to have a tune. No way around it. I had an mds lifter fail on me, but it wasn't the "normal" failure we typically hear about where it wipes the cam out. I decided I was going to switch to non mds until I saw the cost (me doing all the work) over $2k. So I went with factory replacements. The new lifters are all "hellcat" lifters. They have larger rollers in the tip. All new hemis (after 2016) have these lifters. I also hope your engine issue is a coil or injector, but I'd be willing to wager its valvetrain related, and mechanical. Your descriptive sounds like a typical wiped cam lobe from my experience...
