I'm curious on a few features of the keyless enter and go system on the WK2. I've seen stuff in the owners guide but haven't fully played with it yet. I have a couples scenario I'm curious about.

Say you stop driving the car and shut the engine off, and don't open the door. The doors are still locked (either from auto locking when driving, or you hit the lock button after stopping the engine). Can someone on the outside open the door?

Say you have both keys with you. You stop the car, shut the engine off and get out of the WK2 with one key and leaving the other in the car. Will the doors lock when you press the handle button or key fob lock? If so do they open right up if you grab the handle with the one key out of range and the spare still left inside?

Do you mean to tell me that, to date, 54 people have viewed this post and not one person has provided an answer to these riddles?!?! I wanna know...especially scenario 1. Cause when that axe weilding murderer climbs up to my driver's side door from underneath the Jeep...I wanna be prepared! (Well, I suppose I could just start it up, floor it, and be home shivering under my covers before he could even raise the axe above his head...)

First scenario would be like on a trip stopping at a rest area to take a quick nap.

Second would be like making a pit stop on a trip. Could either be car left running or not while locked with one key still inside and the other on you.

I know I can disable the keyless enter and go in the EVIC if needed, just a hassle at times lol.

Eventually I'll play around with the scenarios and see what happens for my answers. I was just wondering if anyone already knew.

I'm just speaking from my experience with my current car since I have not yet gotten my Jeep.

Scenario 1. If the fob is inside the car, then if you keep the doors locked, I'm pretty sure someone can't open them from the outside. I would also think there is a setting for the door unlock, like unlock when putting car in park. If that setting is on, then if you stop, put it in park and the doors unlock, just relock them. I'm pretty sure no one will be able to open the doors from the outside.

Second scenario. If one fob is kept in the car and you lock the door with the other fob, I bet it would lock. Now if you try to lock the car by pushing the lock button on the door handle, I bet it won't lock because it detects the fob inside. So, locking a fob in the car by using another fob would work, locking the fob in the car by using the door handle lock wouldn't.

That's what I would expect, we need some real world testing here.

The Jeep will not allow someone on the outside to unlock the doors if both fobs are inside. The proximity entry module is located behind the center bezel and can tell whether the fob is inside or outside the Jeep.
If both fobs are in the Jeep and you go to lock the doors via the button on the handle, I think the lights will flash or the horn will honk. Something will try to alert you before it finally says ok dumbass and locks the doors <-- If I remember correctly from my reading. I think there is something about it in the owners manual about locking the vehicle..

My current car is not a WK2 but I would imagine the responses are the same.

1. No, if the doors are locked and fob is inside, the doors cannot be opened from the outside, without another fob or key.
2. If a fob is left inside and you close the door, the door will lock after horn chirps to alert you that the fob is inside. After that, #1 is in effect.

I don't think that is right. If the fob is left inside, the car chirps the horn to let you know you left it inside, but the car will NOT lock. If it did, it defeats the purpose of the chirp. The chirp is to let you know the fobs inside so you dont' walk off with it in there.

My Caddy gives you three chirps and leaves the doors unlocked.

Played with it a little bit. Yes the car knows if the key is inside or outside the car. I only had one key fob on me at the time. I was standing outside the car and my sister was inside and she tried to start the car, it wouldn't EVIC said something like key not detected. So it knew the key was outside the car. I was standing right next to the car as well. Later I had her get inside with the key fob and lock the doors. It wouldn't let me open the door from the outside.

Ok, confirmation of one of the items. I'm most interested in the second item when the 2 fobs are present what it does. Good stuff Mongoose.
