I found a fix for Sunroof not closing flush!

Recently, I noticed that my sunroof was not closing flush with the roof but was otherwise working properly. Not by much, but there was enough room for water to get past the seal. I took the rig to the dealership. They charged me $110 to diagnose. They told me I had a bad module, it was not covered by the extended warranty, and it would cost me $675 to fix. I said never mind and took the rig home, $110 poorer.

I got online and found a TSB from 2005 that explains how to recalibrate the sunroof. I did it, and now it closes like its supposed to.

Just follow steps 7-12 at the bottom of this TSB:

Thank you so much this worked for me as always you guys are the best :)
Question for anyone... Does this TSB referenced here apply to newer models of Grand Cherokee's? I have a 2013 GC with a sunroof that the vent does not open to the FULL vent position (only opens approx 1"). It had lost it's calibration but I was able to re-calibrate, just now vent not opening to full position.

Thanks in advance!
OMG!!! Thank You!!! Seriously... Been years like this. Only just started leaking though..

We just did this on my wife's 05 GC Limted, worked great. She's excited. Thanks so much for the info.
Did you ever get this to work

exact same thing happened to me after I recalibrated the sunroof. Were you ever able to get it to sit flush??

thanks!
Dang, signed on a trade in this sunday. They dinged me for this...went out and tried it and what do you know, its working. Don't want to open a can of worms and going to give this one to the man. Going from my first edition 2008 challenger to a 2016 hellcat.
Resurrecting this thread once again. Just did these steps and my sunroof is back to being flush thanks bigwill. I've had it like that for the past year ha ing to push it into place when I would go through the car wash lol. Thanks again.
Where do the sun roof drains exit? I saw a video of a Commander I believe. It had the drain under the dead pedal. I can see the drain line when I take the panels off by the hood lever. I can't find the exit though. I'm sick and tired of the A pillar and every pillar pissing water. Help

Drains are all located in the bottom
side frame ..pretty much hidden from view in the interior channel
It works!
No need to push my sunroof every time after closing it.
Works on 2007 Jeep SRT8, thanks ! Rear edge was a little low and leaving a gap, now flush after calibration.

Recently got this car, lots of fun.

Excellent forum, thanks again.

thanks, just bought a used commander and water leaked through the sunroof when my wife took it through the carwash for the first time. I noticed the sunroof did not close the last 1-2 mm. Did the reset and it closed all the way. All is good! thanks!
Awesome!

CONFIRMED FIX!!!

JUST performed the re-cal and it worked beautifully. I was dreading another trip to the stealership :)fight::mad::flamed::bananahump-slvrathl) and now I don't have to :)thefinger: :silly: :nofu:)!

~copying and pasting from the .pdf (the RUN position is the ON position;i performed step 12 a total of 9 times)

7. Place the ignition switch in RUN position.
8. Close all of the doors.
9. Press and release the vent switch (sunroof should move to vent position).
10. Once the sunroof has stopped motion at the vent position, press and hold the vent switch
for at least 5 seconds to recalibrate the sunroof position.
11. If the sunroof did not reach the full vent open position, press and hold the vent switch until
the full-vent-open position is reached then release the vent switch, then press and hold the
vent switch for at least 5 seconds to recalibrate the sunroof position.
12. Cycle the sunroof from the full-vent-open position to the full-slide-open position and back to
the full-vent-open position at least 7 complete times. The sunroof is now in customer mode
with the obstacle detection thresholds updated.

THANKS BIGWIL!!!
