All,

Just took my Jeep to get a safety inspection in VA. Same place I went to last year and passed. As I waited for over an hour in line, just when I pull into the bay, a state trooper pulls in to get an oil change...I immediately crap my pants.

So cop leaves and I am standing inside, they pull my Jeep out, with a REJECTION sticker on the window.

Owner is all apologetic and all, and says he remembers me from last year but can't do anything about it...due to the cop seeing the jeep. Bad timing...really bad...and they charge me the $16 anyway for failing....

Failed for NO CATS...even though I have SW HF Cats. The cop was looking for a Federal Stamp on them...which there isn't.

So 15 Days...I need this fixed or a solution. For those who know someone in the Northern VA area who could help me out, please PM me. Jeep is not the daily driver, but can't afford it not to pass.

Thanks,
Matt

i wonder if I could borrow his setup....
I live in Iowa and have no emission laws, but what are the consequences if you don't pass?

Not sure you would have to PM him.....
Take the rejection sticker off and take it somewhere else to get it inspected?
What do I say if they ask where it is?

Already done. Waiting for reply.

I don't know - Had the windshield replaced. Haven't been driving it this year. I was expired so I removed it. I don't like the smut from the old stickers so I removed it and cleaned up the windshield....

Used to be here that if you had the windshield replaced, they would break out a piece of the old windshield with the sticker and you were good as long as you carried it. One time I had a windshield replaced and the guy showed me how you could heat the old sticker while spraying behind it with windex as pealed it off and reuse it. Now they just tell you tough luck, take it and get a new inspection done.

Maybe not a good idea - up to you.

Not opposed to any of this, but don't they log license plate and vin in some magical system? Why else would it be on the back of the sticker?

Might be they do in your state, I couldn't say. I think we have Rejected stickers also but I never saw one. The one time years ago they found a problem with mine they just told me to get it fixed and come back, they didn't take off the old sticker.
The info on the back of our stickers is for case you get pulled over and they are curious they can look and make sure it's for your vechicle. Our state it's not tied into Computer system like that however ours is tied to if you fail inspection somewhere you have to go Back to the same place It was plugged in at to repass. Always passed with high flow cats everwhere. Change your midpipes and go back plus you allready payed your money for the sticker there.
Stupid emissions...I went to a car show just recently here in SC and there were at least 15 1500+ whp cars there...all driven in...yea driven in from all over...I'm almost glad that I don't live in IL anymore for that reason...I can drive around with open headers and not even get warned about it.

I would suggest having a midpipe with your factory cats made and go get a retest...
Hey everyone...took it this morning to another place and told them that I worked late into the night putting the CATS back on.....did a visual and said ok....then they started to question my cutouts.....They thought they were open which i said they weren't...and then showed them what open was! PASSED!!!!

Now to get ready for emissions in April. Fabbing up similar setup to RMON. Only way to pass in these awful states.

So did they reconnect your jeep up to their machine or what exactly happened? Rmons trick should work for us as well as we all have SW 1 7/8" headers just like him...
VA has emissions, which will require me to fab up RMON's setup (due in April). VA also has a SAFETY inspection, which I failed the first time for not having stamped cats. Went to different place, and told them I put the old cats back on. Visual check only.
