My WK2 just had its radiator replaced. After inspecting the work I found this bolt in the engine compartment. This has been the only non maintenance work done to date. I just want to know what and why so I can formulate my rant to the dealer

What size is the bolt? It looks like a head bolt to me, but pics can be deceiving

The alt mounting bolts are all aluminum i believe.

That was my thought as well, looks like a head stud or even something for the exhaust mounting. But can’t find anything that is similar. I know some of the exhaust bolts have that knurled section, but that bolt is way to long to be an exhaust bolt. Everything I’ve found looks to have gone completely threaded:

Bolt is 5 and a quarter inches, thanks for all of the responses guys. Should be a big help when I take it back in to complain

I think that bolt identifies as male.

Maybe, but the knurled end near the head, under the washer, tells me its actually an unbiased, gender neutral fastener which only identifies as a piece of hardware that brings things together. Dont be so insensitive....
