I just got a grand Cherokee SRT 2020. I would like to make my exhaust louder without spending too much. Is there anything I can do for maximum 400 dollars to make my SRT louder?

Also, I am at 360 miles now. I was told after the break in period of 500 miles, things change with the truck. Will the exhaust sound change after 500 miles?

Thanks,
Brad

Maybe get a muffler shop to make you some straight tail pipes instead of the rear mufflers.
If you leave the suitcase muffler it will definitely be louder but not too crazy.

I've just been quoted £400 to cut out my rear silencers and weld staight pipe in by an exhaust specialist :-D
I could borrow a welder and a ram-bender and it would cost me about £40 in steel pipe, easier way to more volume for peanuts.

I removed the suitcase and replaced with an H pipe for around AED 1200. $320. Sounds epic and not intrusive at all...Even the wife is okay with it. Got a video if you want a listen.

Most definitely please.......
Do you have the CEL/ECU/EML light on the dash now or is the car running perfectly?

OK, ok, ok...seriously, just have the suitcase removed and straight pipes welded in. Any muffler shop will do it affordably and it will sound awesome. That's what I have done and its an all new exhaust system on my WK2 as it was damaged in a fender-bender. Runs and sounds perfect - no CEL's or any issues!

I have a 2020 SRT as well and I'm thinking of doing the same. Now I have an Xpipe from a hellcat to replace the suit case or is it better to leave the suit case alone and delete the resonators (Rear mufflers close to the tips).

Which option is drone free and would sound better?

Thanks

If it will work, why not use the X pipe. Has no bearing on sound as its purpose is to balance the banks and help w/scavenging (I believe). As I have no experience with removing the resonators, but, I would think taking them out would suck as the resonating would increase. I love the way mine sounds and as with all exhaust mods, there is always resonance from the exhaust...but you can dynamat the interior and eliminate most if you cannot tolerate.

I think X pipe is the best option as I hate drone as my WK1 droned with Borla and Solo systems. This wk2 is painfully quiet though lol

I’d be surprised if you got any drone out of the OEM mufflers they have a tone of fibreglass packing in them delete the resonator and definitely put in a H or X pipe crossover to equalise the exhaust pulse

So you're saying that by replacing the suitcase (Middle big muffler) with an X pipe while keeping the OEM resos (close to tailpipes) I should be drone free correct?

yes and if it did happen to bother you at all you could buy a good set of mufflers if you wanted a better sound like the borla crate mufflers they cost a bit but you would have an awesome sounding cat back and the crate mufflers are designed to eliminate all drone and sound is tuned specifically for the mopar hemi engines part number 400940 you’ve got 3 options of loudness from touring, s type and attack I was going to buy these cause I was thinking of doing the same I’ve installed ARH headers and long tubes was thinking of then staying with the OEM cat back and just removing the resonator and buying the crate muffler s-type they only are available in 2.5 inch but given the OEM system is 2.75 inch I don’t think that level of restriction would cause any issues but I’m now ordering all the stainless in 304 3 inch and I’m going to make my own cat back system h-pipe cross over cause you can get that right up close to the long tube connection and I bought the borla 3 inch xs pro mufflers. In saying all that there’s heaps of mufflers to choose from if you go that way but just stay clear of chamber mufflers they do drone a lot

So a quick update. I finally managed to get the suitcase replaced with an X pipe for $400 Canadian.
I can confirm the Zero drone and the amazing start up sound. Got it done today so haven't driven much but drove on the highway to confirm the no drone part.

What do you think of the work done?

@george10.5 I'll drive it for a couple of weeks and see how it sounds but I'm already thinking about the crate mufflers you have suggested. I do believe that this would be the perfect setup.

Nice welds.
How is this different from stock? Are the two exhausts now communicating products of combustion as opossed to an exhaust for either engine bank?
