Got front end clunk? Video of cause....

So.... we've got two Jeeps in the shop right now. Dupree's and Tommy's. One was boosted before, the other was NA with N2O. Dupree hardly used his N2O. Both Jeeps were doing the same thing. I've been thinking I've had wasted engine mounts this whole time.

Whenever I let off the throttle under hard accel., I'd get a loud bang. We thought it was my downpipe hitting the frame. After seeing Dupree's and Tommy's do this, I put my Jeep on the lift. Mine was the worst of all.

It appears that after some mileage or hard usage, the top front axle mount bushing goes to shit. What are the chances of 3 Jeeps all with different setups all having the same issue? The new part is only about $35.00. We have one that will be at the shop tomorrow and we are gonna see if Energy Susp. makes something that'll fit. Here are two video's. Both Dupree and I after speaking mentioned the same issue. Both of us felt like the whole front end was "loose" over speedbumps. We didn't get a video of Tommy's but it was just like Dupree's. Watch the video's and enjoy.

I changed them on the red beast to, very annoying!!
Been there done that, caught it right after the 426 went in so most of the damage was done stock

You can fill the cavity's with something to make it more solid also I think how you position it might affect how long it lasts .

Good find Harrison!!!!!!
Great Find Harrison , how about making some Heavy duties bushings for us ?
Great post Harrison...Thanks for sharing !!!
The dealership dropped off a new bushing this afternoon to us.:D We will get measurements and see what Energy Susp. has for us. Hopefully they've got something we can order and use. We shall see..... stay tuned.
Great info ,good to know! Mine just started with this clunk! Gotta get under there and see if that is the problem. I hope you guys can find us a better bushing to replace with.
Could this be a possible 70 mph vibe source?
Nice find HB. Hey at the 24-25 sec mark in your vid, looks like your axle, cv boot rubber thing, whatever you want to call it, is ripped to hell on the top side.

Jim
Hemituner changed out mine back in 2008, they're garbage and dont stand up to any form of wear. I think I put up a post about it several years ago.

Make sure it's on a lift so no weight will be on the front axle at all. I'm sure we can find something

I thought about it but I really don't have it. I thought that Knuckles figured that out with the control arm bushings?

I dunno if it's ripped or not. Could just be the "clean" part from being extended. I'll check it out again tomorrow. We were under it for a while. I would think we would have caught that but you never know. Thanks man..... I will check it out.

Don't think so, I never had the vibration

No lift needed, the front diff doesn't support the jeeps weight it just hangs there by the isolator bushings. Just don't jack it up the Jeep with the front diff
Ramps would also work

Good find Harrison. Many people will find this helpful.

How were yours on the jeep?

My Jeep was the second video on the bottom. Mine were the worst of all of them. The center of my bushing was basically gone.

Oh damn, I didn't ever see the second video. So thing this could effect the 60' for you?
Who knows man.... I bet it wouldn't help having the front axle moving up and down. When the ass end squats and the front lifts.... who knows what's going on. Ask Mondo what it sounds like when I let off the throttle. It'll make ya shit yourself.
