I'll be installing a 6psi procharger p1x kit with a conservative tune on a stock engine. My tuner is thinking I should upgrade my fuel system. Hellcat injectors(Already ordered) and he suggests a walbro 450 fuel pump.

What is everyone doing for upgrading their full systems?
Am i going to have to drop the fuel tank to do anything with the pump?

I'm told the stock system is good to 600-650 ish. So you should have plenty of fuel for only 6 pounds. My stock pump has no problem with id1050x injectors and 10 psi

I ran mine with a Procharger D1S or a few weeks on the stock fuel pump. It worked fine. But I decided since my Jeep has 80k miles on it I would upgrade the fuel pump anyways. It's a good thing I did because when they dropped the tank they discovered an issue with a U-Joint on the driveshaft.

My dyno with stock fuel pump was 589hp.

Hi,

I saw your post about being over 80K miles and upgrading your fuel pump. Did you upgrade to the Trackhawk pump? Was it plug&play then, tune?

Thank you!

So far, it's supporting my 5.7 gen5 Whipple build up to 10psi, I'm going to be cranking up the boost soon. Going thru tuning now.
Upgraded 5.7L & 2.9 Whipple with BAP to forged 6.4L & 2.9 Whipple without BAP and added Walbro 525 pump in stock fuel assembly. The higher voltage BAP will run at the edge of the current for the stock fuel pump and 20A circuit. Although the 5.7 with stock internals can handle more boost than a stock 6.4, the 5.7 does not have forged internals. Boost above 10psi may be risky with stock rods & pistons. The stock fuel pump 68304617AA is replaced with 68535771AA on 3.6, 5.7, 6.4. Don't think there is much difference. The stock relays are prone to failure and stock wiring is at limit and subject to voltage drops. Upgrade to 12GA wiring should be minimum but 10GA wire will reduce the voltage drop to the pump assembly and give upgradability to Walbro or dual pump. However, if upgrading to Walbro 525 or dual pumps, 8GA for the main run from battery, through fuse, upgraded relay and pigtails, and replacement of the power blue/pink wire and black ground wires to pump is recommended.
