Hey guys,

I just was reading Delta's thread about his Wk2 and the exhaust being his problem due to vibration. This triggered a concern of mine.

I notice in the 30 days (as of today) that I have owned this monster My exhaust has a very deep vibration at low rpm. It shakes everything in the car from coins in the cup holder to a few things behind the dash. My wife last night even said what is that vibration . This whole time I just thought it was the loud exhaust which is the first time i have ever had one this loud on a car.

it happens from like 1600 -2300 rpm. If I am side street speeds driving conservatively I get this vibration on and off all day long. As soon as it gets out of that range i hear a nice sweet exhaust note and no more shaking in the cabin.

In an attempt to better explain it I would say I get it in that rpm range when the car is in a higher gear than needs to be (like overdrive). Any kind of high performance dricing and this problem doesnt present itself. If I am in say 2nd opr 3rd doing 30mph down a side street I hit the gas just a little and the rpm drop just a few hundred and this noise happens (almost like it is begin bogged down) but as soon as it gets out of that range instantly its night and day with the sound inside the car.

Does this sound like anything you gusy have experience and could it be causing any other problems? In Deltas thread his vibration was causing some issues and embarassingly enough i am scared that this vibration is causing other issues that I wouldn't notice much as im not as mechanically inlclined as 90% of the people on here.


Any thoughts guys?

It doesn't have a catback exhaust on it does it, like a Borla? Post up a pic of the tips & we will be able to tell what you've got. Not saying this is your problem but giving the RPM range you say & "noise inside" it could possibly be drone from the exhaust. If nothing else & your exhaust is all stock it will rule this out. I looked at your 3 intro pics but theres not one of the back.

Edit: get a pic of the whole exhaust under it also. In case someone left the stock tips & maybe removed the reso's or changed the stock muffler.

I might bring this back to carmax and tell them to put them in. I had no idea and they never told me that. I dont mind it when im alone. I listen to music and stuff but when somone is in the car they always look at me like the noise is rediculous and everything shakes.

Have a look at your muffler also. Might be switched also to something louder.
One thing for sure, no resonators= drone.

Ill go out now and see if I can find the muffler. I KNEW this was not stock. Its seriously loud. I set off 2 or 3 alarms on every level of my parking garage when I leave in the morning and when I come home.

I cant figure out if I am happy about all of this or not.

I like the exhaust just not the drone. Could I just bring this into a dealer and have them weld on resonators.? Any idea of the cost?

Something to think about, its been loud you may not like it quite. Some just cant live with the drone some systems make. Depending on cost to replace the reso's you might consider a Corsa catback or some others. Borla sounds awesome but has drone.

Could i potentially put any resonators on there. I see some people on the forum have borla or corsa resos for sale.

Any idea how much a exhaust place would charge to weld this on? I might just buy the resos and try and it and if I dont like it ill go back and cut them off again lol depending on price but I dont think we are talking 1000s.

I am going to also take a photo of the engine bay and see if you guys spot any upgrades that dont come with the car stock.

What kind of HP increase would this setup yield as opposed to stock?

do a close inspection of the exaust and make sure its not touching the frame or body anywhere i agree with the above statement about going backwards as far as the sound. once youve had loud i cant imagine going back. i would think youre "butt dyno" as they say will make the truck seem slower as well
