Cam

Hello currently I have a corsa Catback extreme and was wanting to install a cam for a little horse power but mostly for the sound . I’m thinking headers will be too loud and raspy , but I also want the came to perform well and sound great . Any suggestions ? Do I need headers when installing a cam ? Or will it sound good without them ? Looking at mmx max effort na kit !

thanks guys

I heard the chop stix cam is a good choice for sound and little more HP!

6.4L 392 VVT HEMI NSR CHOPSTIX Grind by MMX (modernmusclextreme.com)
NO SPRINGS REQUIRED!
Will require Comp Cams Limiter and custom tuning. exhaust upgrades such as long tube headers recommended for best results.

Thanks for reaching out . I watched a video of a jeep that had that cam and wow it sound amazing . Does the mmx package include all things I would need ?

Check this,
6.4L HEMI NSR Performance Camshaft Kit - NSR-CHOPSTIX - by MMX (modernmusclextreme.com)

What you should look into if you go with this kit to get the best performance, add New OEM Factory 6.4 Springs , Add $199.95 if they are old or have some miles on them. You can also send them your PCM to be unlocked and have a remote tune once you get the PCM back. This usually requires you to send them back a datalog and then they will adjust the tune and send it back. Or if you have access to a dyno they can remote tune it on the dyno where you're at. Or at the very least a base map to run the mods a little better.

This way especially if you're going to put a set of headers to compliment the higher air flow you will have a tuned PCM running everything perfect! your AFR should be nice and safe and you have room to add more mods and further tune it to dial everything in. This is always recommended when you venture into changing the cams and headers for aftermarket ones.

The Jeep has 40,000 miles on it I’m guessing I’ll get new springs . I was going to send my pcm in to hp tuners but If they can unlock it and tune it I might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone . I’m hesitant on putting headers for now . Once installed I’ll decided if I like the sound or if it needs new airflow .

Good idea! I think if you have a good enough muffler tip and mid muffler delete with a X or H pipe that would pair up nicely! I personally love my Mufflex mufflers and X pipe, sounds awesome! if I had a cam it would sound killer!

Well now I’m seeing FRP cams and Texas Speed cams . I have no idea what to choose , I want performance of course but I would also like it to sound as mean as possible with my corsa Catback extreme . I have a shop with a dyno and mmx has remote tuning . I have heard a few bad reviews about them taking along time to get a tune out . The shop I’m taking it will charge 100 and hour to be on the dyno . That not even including the cost of the cam and unlocking my pcm and labor. I also need advice as what all I need , I know the 6.4 have week internals . The kit I was looking at comes with new lifters , pushrods and a camshaft limiter kit.
Better to have it tuned on the dyno!

Just so you know, you can also tune chop into an engine, you do not need cams for that...

I would recommend replacing the springs and install non-MDS Lifters. Mine is the Comp 270 and I did notice a substantial difference with Headers. But I’m now running Boost. With the headers and Cam it will have a decent, but louder chop. I would recommend installing LT headers if in your budget, unless your going with a NSR Cam

Can you post a video of how yours sounds ?
I probably could figure out how to post a video of how the exhaust sounds now, but it was louder before the Boost and new Tune

I have a corsa extreme Catback so idk if I need headers I don’t want it to be too loud but also want to be able to hear it chop . Would you suggest your cam ? Is it for mid to high pulls or built for digs ?
The Chop definitely got others attention, often times not the best attention from others in trucks and was pulled over once, even though the officer knew he had no reason for pulling me over. And after actually said nice Jeep. Yes, it did pull nice from a dig, mid range for NA, but hardened internals, etc, LT Headers with no cats.
I personally felt it had too much of a chop and bit to loud, although received many compliments from others. It doesn’t have as much Chop or as loud with Boost and new Tune
Also, an exhaust with X-pipe vs straight pipe will have a bit higher pitch and not quite as deep throaty Chop

What you have on it for boost ? Did you build your internals ? I’m going to go forced air here soon .
Engine was built by BES/HHP. I’m just running low Boost with a D1SC, stock compression
