Hi guys , does anyone have any info on fitting rear Bwoody rear sway bar links to a WH (WK) GC 2008 SRT8 . I have purchased from the States a Bwoody sway bar kit and lower spring kit. I had the Dealership tell me that the rear sway bar links can not be fitted to our SRT8`s as our rear sway bar links are pretty much the same length as the front ones. I have noticed this by viewing some threads and Pictures on the forum. As you guys have an OEM bracket that comes down to met the rear sway bars, as our rear sway bars bolt directly to the Chassis. Also the dealership told me that by fitting the springs it will put unwanted stress to the rear sway bar and it would not be recommend to fit the springs until sway bar issue is sorted out. So I`m reading alot of the threads but can not see anything relating to overseas models. Aslo here in Australia people are knowledgable only on Holdens(GM) and Fords only.:( Help please..

So your jeep doesn't have that triangular plate

I'm not sure what the part number is but if you could get a part number for the plate and order it that might solve your problem

JP correct my sway bar link bolts directly to the chassis. I have been looking and reading other forums and i have seen what Non SRT8 bwoody rear sway bay links look like and the way they bolt up and it looks just like my setup. Ripped off :( . Yes the other thing to do is get the part number for the OEM Bracket and fit it up like you guys have it over there.

Do you have the 9" wide front and back wheels

That might be the reason we get the plate, because we have 10" rear wheels and the standard location wouldn't clear them

JT yes on our WH(WK) SRT8`s they come standard with 9" Rims , 245/40/R20. Oh so this is the reason, Gee you would think that my Dealership would of been able to know this, as they where saying that the Bwoody Swaybar links where not for my Jeep. :(. This was an expensive exercise. JT so will i have any issues if i use the Bwoody front sway bar links which i already have got, and purchase the Non SRT8 Bwoody rear sway bar links which should bolt up from what i understand. JT next question will the Bwoody springs fit my Jeep with out any major issues. I appreciate your help thanks mate.

Vini, good to see another SRT8 in Perth! How long you had it?

Just went out and looked at my late 2008 GCSRT and the setup is the same as JT's photo. Also I got standard 10" rims, they must have changed late '08?

Hey if you need to get rid of the rear links I'll buy them:)

Also interested to know if the BWoody springs will fit being RHD. Though can't see there being an issue as it's pretty much the same platform as LHD..

Also what dealer have you been going too? I've had a few nightmare stories lately!

How`s it going perthsrt8. Answer to your frst question is I purchase my GC SRT8 early 2008 brand New and i believe it was the last of the group I Series. Hence this is why i started doing some mods as the Group II, and yes i know that the Group II series come with 10" on the arse end but i haven`t had a good look underneath one . As I also know somebody that purchased a GC SRT8 2010. Answer to second question is i think that the springs should fit but I have just purchased a 2 post hoist and when it comes in i will do the mod myself . As for DVG Melville well all there good for is oil changes and wiper blade replacements and not forgetting charging the earth for it also. They had my Jeep for 3 days and they did not know either about the triangular bracket until i post on the forum and JT answered my question , so now all i need is the brackets and i found them at ************ but i need to get the hole rear sway bar kit. I have Chris from Modernhorsepower looking in to getting me the The NON SRT8 rear Links which should bolt straight up without the plates. So if i get the nonSRT8 standard rear Links i will sell the rear one to you if you want.

Perthsrt8 i was looking at your photo and that plate has a part number on there, would it be too much to ask if you could give it to me, as i can only make out a few numbers. , If i can get the part number aslo just check that the otherside has the same number then i can order the plates on there own without get the whole rear sway bar kit. Thanks.

Ah yep nice one, well let me know once you have the nonsrt ones.

Yeah went to melville for the last service 40k, was so much better than the 66days it spent at maddington having both head gaskets done after owning it for only 6hrs. Then they had to put 2010 carpet and seat belts in after rodents got in!!..

Anyways here's them numbers;
Left side: 05290769AC
Right side: 05290768AC

Yeah I'm keen to get some springs and do it all myself, done plenty of other cars, it's just the shipping from US is crazy. One place said $790!

thanks for that done well,
i'll let you know how i go,
have to catch up sometime.
i was thinking about taking it to maddington, but they are also DVG owned, looks like i'll stick to these toss pots only for services, as for mods i have done most myself. youll find by being a member on this forum these guys make it easy to get information on anything you may need to know.

Hey Vinni and Perthsrt8, I live in Canberra ACT. Good to hear you guys are out there in OZ. Listen guys, I had a set of springs custom made for me by a really good bloke by the name of Stuart Murchison. He is in Qld and his is a Jeep suspension specialist. His setup is called Murchison Products. Google it and you will find it easy.

I put a new set of OEM staggered wheels, 20x10's on the rear and the 20x9's for the front with 275/315 Toyo STII's. Love this setup, as all our American friends will confirm. I'll get some photos up shortly. Haven't had any issues with the swaybars front or rear.

Anyway, I discovered Stu after I couldn't get help from Eibach Australia about the springs for the aussie WH Srt8. I then was told by KING Springs Australia that Stuart gets them to make all his springs for his customers.

So I called him. Turns out it was the best thing I had done. I was the first aussie SRT8 Jeep that he did springs for and he got them done bang on first time. I had to do alot of measurements and take a heap of photos so he could get them drawn up on his CAD software and test them on his computer. I lowered my SRT8 60mm in the rear and 30mm in the front. The Jeep looks tough and turns heads wherever I go. It rides nicer than with the stock springs but you'll need stiffer shocks. They are a stronger stiffer spring so the original Bilsteins cant keep up with damping at higher speeds. There is a heap of threads about shocks but contact Harrison at STAGE6 and he'll set you up with the QA1's. I have them and they are awesome. Just waiting on QA1 to make them for the front. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Stuart is also working on coilovers for me and the aussie SRT8's.

If you contact him don't forget to tell him i sent ya. Cheers and good luck.

Also, if the business names don't appear because of non vendor issues, PM me and I'll send you the links.

Chris

Perthsrt8 hey FYI those plate left and right side are worth $400AUD each ex Germany (WTF). The whole rear sway bar kit which includes the plates from the states is only $310USD. I just have to look into the freight side of it. Let you know how i go. Like i said i will also wait for Chris to let me know if he can get the NON SRT8 Rear links.Cheers

This is my rear setup. As you can see the mounts bolts are there to mount the triangular bracket.

Ah yep I see. Any luck with getting the brackets or whole kit?

Chris, I emailed Stu today and I reckon I'll go with them. What was the alignment like after, were you able to get it right without using an alignment correction kit etc?

Cheers.
