Brake rotor/pads replacement

6086 Views 21 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Design Rotor Tech
Time for new rotors/pads in my stock 2009 SRT8. It's a daily driven car, not used on the track. Do you suggest I stick with the stock rotors/pads? Any idea what that's going to run me?

Or if you suggest something else, let me know.

Only if you want to spend a ton of money. Go with DRT or R1Concepts rotors and pads of your choice.
Hey thanks Chad, sounds like good advice. Sorry for a noob question -- but the red part of the brake that you can see -- that's the Calipers right? They would remain the same even if I swapped out the rotors and pad?

And what should I look for in rotors and pads? The R1 Concepts look good but I wouldn't know how to select each one.
Brakes

I just changed mine out to R1 concepts drilled with StopTech pads, very happy so far. I also used a stick-on substance on the back of the pads, and now have absolutely no squeal.

Yes, the red is the caliper and will stay the same. It doesn't matter which rotor you choose but if you like slotted and drilled get them. They look better than just plain. I prefer StopTech pads

same here...except they were DRT drilled/slotted. 100% improvement over the worn out, squealers

Great info, thanks. So far I've had all work done by my dealership. But if I order these online I'm not sure if the dealership is the right place to install them. (No, I can't do it myself haha). Should I just look for a local brake place?

Dealerships are whores and will take your money even if you bring them the parts. Choice is yours on who you trust.
Trust is the issue. I actually go back to my dealership often as a few local brake shops I've gone to want to charge me an arm and a leg because it is a performance vehicle.

For example, before I decided to do my own brakes, I first called a few places, including the dealership. The dealership had the lowest price by far. They told me the labor cost to do the brakes was the exact same as their regular Jeep and I could bring them my own parts.
If you want to save money and get high quality parts hit us up. We machine the rotors and process cryogenic treatment in house. Cryogenic rotor is the best choice, SRT-8 brakes does not last very long that is just the nature of the vehicle.

That price is way too high. Our rotors are made from the same exact blanks we also carry stop tech pads.

At that price you can get our Cryogenic treated rotors.

Send me a PM I'll work out a deal for your.
