I put my order in about a week before Christmas and at the time was told the waiting period was 4-6 weeks. About two weeks later my salesman let me know that he had some good news and some bad news. The good news was that someone who put an order in for the SRT8 back in August with the exact same color/specs dropped out, and that he was able to get me into his slot. The bad news was that even still, because the plants had shut down production during the Holidays, and that back order was much stronger than anticipated, he said it was still looking like at least 1-2 months out. All I could do is wait (seeing how this is one of two dealerships in the region that are willing to sell for MSRP). About 2 weeks from there I get another call saying that there was one on the truck en route to the dealership and the owner dropped out, all I had to do was drive in to fill the paperwork and it was mine. Long story short, by the time I was able to put my shoes on and collect myself to get out the door, the owner of the dealership got wind of the available SRT8 unit, intervened and decided to take the unit for himself, leaving me with yet another phone call from my salesman telling me this horrible news. What would have been delivery on the 23rd, is now back to waiting with timing uncertainty, with which I still don't have a VIN. My most recent update is an email from the factory stating that my order has been processed for manufacturing. Does anyone have any idea roughly how long the process takes from this point? Sorry for the mini-rant.

As a general rule it takes approx 60 days to order & receive a new car. There are lots of of stories on here about people waiting forever. My dealer ordered 5 in June & still doesn't have any of them but none of them were ordered as sold cars. On the other hand my dealer ordered a sold unit with name attached the first of Nov. & it came in the first of Jan.. It took about a month to get it made & about a month for it to ship & be delivered. Did they just get lucky with that one who knows cause they are still waiting on the others. I does appear dealer stock is being pushed back for sold orders. I am wondering if the reason some of these people are waiting forever might be because the dealer never marked the order sold with name attached when it was entered in the system & first ordered.
