Aftermarket Nav - CAN BUS Failure

I recently bought a Pioneer z130bt aftermarket nav unit for my 2007. A local shop spent 6 hours trying to get everything to work but everytime they hooked up the HU, the jeep would experience "CAN BUS Failure". The shop said they had to re-program my ecu twice as the jeep would completely "lock up" and nothing would work including door locks, dash lights etc. They could get the pioneer HU to boot up and run, but no songs would play and seemed like it wasn't properly commnicating with the factory harness.

I searched a bit before posting and noticed there is specific firmware for the C2R-CHY4. Could this be my issue?

Sounds like it or they have no idea what they are doing. I had a z120 an had zero issues with it. I also had the interface for the steering wheel controls. Again zero issues with the entire setup.
hmmm...i guess ill try my luck at a different shop.
Wasn't there a change somewhere around 07 with high speed and low speed can bus Nav units?

Can you elaborate?
I just know from when I was researching putting a newer MyGig in my 07 that there were different versions, low speed and high speed. I believe around 07-08 they changed over. I don't know much more than that. Maybe try some searching. Just throwing that out there. Maybe the difference in can bus operation is causing the problems?

I believe you're right. I think if you searched the 300C SRT8 forum you'd find it. I remember reading about it there.

Not for the Jeep WK, the bus speed (low) did not change until the 2011 model year (high).
I just I had a z120 installed n got everything to work except the flip down tv

I picked up a Metra CHTO-013 and am going to see if that works. I hope to have word on Friday if the local shop and squeeze me in.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.
If that works let me know so I don't have to buy one to replace it.

how is my Z120..n yea find a different shop!
I am doing a z130BT in 2 weeks and curious about this also. I am waiting to hear back from PAC-Audio as we speak.
Ok, so 2 different shops and 4 different harnesses later I am STILL riding around without the 130bt installed. The last shop was on the phone with PAC for a few hours going over pin by pin to be sure everything was hooked up right. They even picked up a second of the same harness (C2R) and it still would not work. The shop had no explanation and gave me a quote to run an aftermarket amp and run separate wires too all the speakers.

Does anyone think it would be worth looking into a new factory amp?
Than they don't know what there doing I just had my z120 installed n got my back up camera to work. As far as speakers I'm doing aftermarket n I don't think it's a problem. You have to get the right harness u want the one for the amplified system it's not the cr2. If you google no limit inc in Baltimore md n call n ask for ace he might be able to point u in right direction he is the one who installed mine. Where do u live at?

I live in Mid-Michigan and below are the various harnesses I have tried.

C2R-CHY4

CHTO-013

C2A-CHY

Ill have to give your guy a call sometime and see what harness he used. Thanks!
Forgot to mention...

I just remembered when I bought my Jeep, the rear entertainment controls were missing. I simply thought the cover had just come loose but later came to find out there was a whole control system there. Does anyone think this would be causing my issue? With the CAN BUS setup, maybe the signal is somehow messing up at this point?

I decided to bite the bullet and buy an aftermarket amp for my stock speakers. Never could figure out why the factory amp wouldn't place nice with my new HU. Oh well, things are working now. Time to rape ebay and sell the 15 harnesses I bought trying to get this damn thing to work.
