Did an oil change today. N bought 8 quarts of oil ...

But all I used was 6 1/2. Does that sounds right ?

I checked it and it at the "safe" line

That's right. It will hold right at 7qts with a filter change.
Hmm figured it would use.more....thought I was missing something
So if its 7 ...why did I only use 6 n half.....

I also changed the filter too ...

It's really bugging me like I'm f...KN something up
If the new 6.4 is like the old 6.1 it will take forever to drain. Not sure since they are not based on the same design. But 6 1/2qts is normal for the WK1.

YEA? OK THANKS. Feel better then
As long as your dip stick is reading full you are good to go.
i always use 7 but with a new oil filter
Did you prefill the filter? If you didn't, once the system is primed you'll lose 1/2 qt to the filter.

My method is drain the pan hot... while it's draining I contort my arm in such a way I can get to the filter. By the time the filter is loose and not burning my hand I move the pan and pull the filter. While that is finishing the drips I'm prefilling the filter and lubing the o-ring. Get back under the truck put in the plug and slide in the new filter. Takes 7 qts (or damn close) to fill.
