Best launch technique? Launch control button is pretty weak

So I've been playing around a little with different launch techniques - off idle, holding the break and loading up the motor a little, and of course the launch control button.

What I find interesting is that the launch control option actually produces the least aggressive launch, at least according to my butt meter. The most jarring launches have been off idle, in manual flappy paddle mode. I actually just a few minutes ago launched off idle, sport mode with the flappy paddles on and the car actually chirped the tires just a tad.

Any tips on the best method? And does anyone else agree that the launch control mode isn't all its cracked up to be?

Our test group has all 2012 srt8 jeeps and have tried them all and the best way we found out for the best times was in AUTO MODE and in 1st gear and let it shift its self with T/C off. We also tried diff air pressure and the best was 36 to 34 all around. The STOCK tune only we picked up .07 and 1.1 mph buy taking out the airfilter to lean the stock tune down. Using this mode and launch method we all manage P/B 60'. John ran a 1.74 and i ran a 1.77 and Trevor ran a 1.78.

You will probablywant to select track mode for a few different reasons.

Most rear torque bias. 70/30 compared to sport 65/35 and auto 60/40
Fastest shift program
Holds the most torque between shifts
Stiffest suspension, won't squat as much

If you are having trouble with launch mode it is probably due to your conditions. Try adjusting the rpm up or down. (Hold down the button and rotate the knob) each click is + or - 100 launch rpm.

Be careful about turning it all the way up. You can smoke the clutch a bit at the full 3200rpm because it won't hold. In your case, adjusting down to say 1800 may yield better results.

Have you tried raising the launch control RPM setting?

Haven't tried anything else yet. I live downtown so very few safe places to try. I was in a small city for my test runs and won't be back until next weekend.

Also - and I may be wrong here - but I have a Canadian car and it measures to 100km which is 62mph. Not a huge difference but maybe something? I switched the evic to mph and the timers both show 0 to 100km still

You have to go somewhere else to change over completely to English measurements. I had the same problem.

"Stroked & Blown", "Stroked & Blown".

I've been stroked and blown many times. What does that have to do with my Jeep?

This definitely helps, however 3000RPM is the max I have been able to get.

Also, kinda weird. Before I learned you could turn it up I noticed every few runs if I held it longer before launching it would automatically go from 2000RPM hold to over 3500RPM. Computer did it on its own.

Not sure if that's a glitch or by design...

Not a fan of groupthink and limitless congratulatory high-fives.

Sold in 2016. Don't miss it.

I think it really depends on the track starting pads. We have found out at our track our being stock or a couple mods our best 60' come launching at idle with WK1 AND WK2. 1500/2000 launches just spun the tires.

When you use Launch Control, it's supposed to fully defeat TC. To answer your question though, hold down the TC Button for a few seconds vs hitting it once. It'll let you know when it's fully defeated.
