What are the highest temps you will see with the 180 t-stat
A t-stat only controls the opening threshold thus controlling the minimum temp the engine can maintain. If the ambient air temp is high (summertime temps), then you will likely see much higher engine temps regardless of the t-stat you have installed.
Can somebody do a similar step by step for the PMC and what kind to use?
Diablo vs B&B and why?
I'm ready to do the T-stat an cap, CAI, and the PCM with as wild a tune as these
upgrades will support.
Spring is coming and I want to show up at the track confident of a 12 second pass.
I just upgraded to the Motorad 180. It fit perfectly, no grinding was needed. Engine temperature decreased by 20 degrees, from 215 to 185. Coolant temperatures decreased by 30 degrees, from 236 to 206.
Temperature was 40* F. Driving conditions were 75% cruising @ 70 mph and 25% stop and go. I was WOT several times.
Is there a 180 degrees T-stat that perfectly fit instead of the Motorad that is 0.5mm offset (?)
Although I cannot recommend it, the Stant 14248 is 63mm exactly. You will notice the opening is significantly smaller then the Motorad among other things. I would encourage you to consider the Motorad t-stat instead.

Excellent report! I am not surprised that you successfully installed the Motorad t-stat. 0.5mm difference in diameter is just not enough to cause a problem as long as you take your time with the gasket during reinstallation.
I'm about as far from a mechanic as you can get, but I do consider myself handy. One of the things I've been meaning to ask on this board is about t-stats, and this thread obviously was EXACTLY what I needed! I'm placing the order now, using the part numbers given for both the t-stat and the cap. I'm just a little concerned about the extra .5mm, I do have a bench grinder, but I don't know how I know when to stop grinding, and am more worried about going too far! I guess I can try to put a pencil mark on it all the way around, maybe that'll work.
