Does it take Henessey the super tuner to push a ZL1 to 200+? No, I think with a factory supercharged car making over 500hp to begin with, anyone with basic wrenching skills and a tune can do it these days. I think it is a nod to GM and Ford for creating vehicles that are capable of such feats with such minimal involvement from the aftermarket.

Do it in 1 mile, then you have something.
Definitely agree on both points. I would love to hit 200+ in a mile.

Power:
707 bhp @ 6,300 rpm

HPE700 Upgrade Includes:
CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
HPE Air Induction System
Upgraded Valvetrain Parts
Custom HPE Camshaft
Hennessey Pulley Upgrade
Intercooler Heat Exchanger Upgrade
Fuel System Upgrade
160 Degree Thermostat
All Necessary Gaskets & Fluids
Professional Installation
HPE Engine Management Calibration
Dyno Tuning & Road Testing
Hennessey Exterior Badging
Hennessey Premium Floormats
Serial-Numbered Dash & Engine Plaques
3 Year / 36,000 Mile Limited Warranty

This uses the stock supercharger and i dont believe this kit is $50k... that is their twin turbo upgrade. These cars dyno about 480-500whp normally. so it is a significant increase i would say. The ZL1 was not designed to be a straight line car, it was more designed for road courses. Hence the IRS suspension and magentic ride suspension.

The new GT500 is a monster. Have mad respect for both cars. they just have their strengths in different areas.

Yep, the power doesn't sound that great, nor would I find it too smart to spend that money, but over 200+ is awesome. Sounds nice too.

Or be like boost logic and get a supra to 253mph in the standing mile.

200 mph in the tuning world these days is slow.

I think the guys who have done it would disagree... lol

There is nothing slow about 200mph in 1 mile... even the fastest cars around can have a bad pass and not break 200. It really needs to be a perfect run to reach those numbers.

Is it easier to accomplish now than 10 years ago? Yes. 5 years ago? Absolutely.

Jrod will tell you - you need perfect amounts of traction, power and drag to get to 200mph in 1 mile. Sure, some guys are over 250 (OMG)... but without mountains of cash and a good team supporting you, you're not getting there.

But you're from Texas... we're super slow around these parts, we can only race for like 3 weeks out of the year and we can't do top end runs without jail time.

Haha yeah, jail time is never a good thing.
Central texas is a good place to be as far as speed shops go.

We've got American Racing Technologies, Hennessey (debateable), Boost Logic, EMS, MZM, Inertia Motorsports, Underground Racing, all within 3 hours.
If you have a fast car and want it to go faster weve got the people to build it for you. My older brother has personally worked for three of the above listed shops (BL, EMS, MZM), so I know all the people who do the work and put in the hours and they are for the most part great folks.

Now don't get me wrong 200 MPH is fast, but for a 3 mile straight in a tuned ZL1, I expected more. Trust me I have been at those speeds on that road, in a stock 997 Turbo.

Oh and since its on subject, lingenfelter did this in may of last year already. So this has already been done. And the lingenfelter had very minimal work done too. I believe it was similiar in mods

Quote:
LPE engineers used their expertise to modify the ZL1 Camaro with a Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft; CNC ported cylinder heads; an increased supercharger speed thanks to a 2.3 top pulley and a 5% overdriven bottom pulley; a custom air intake with LPE's race mesh filter; Continental ExtremeContact(tm) DW tires and production ZL1 wheels. The LPE-tuned ZL1 makes 720 HP and 650 lbs. ft. of torque at the rear wheels.

Lingenfelter offers enthusiasts three supercharger upgrade packages - producing 630 HP to 700 HP - for the 6.2L ZL1 Camaro engine, delivering substantial improvements over the factory 580 HP and 556 lbs. ft. of torque while maintaining a safe level of boost and supercharger RPM. The LPE ZL1 Camaro Supercharger System Upgrade Packages are available for purchase and installation by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. For more information, visit www.lingenfelter.com.
