Hold off and wait a month for the Sony Xperia Z. The phone is going to be ridiculous. It's a full 5" LED 1080p screen in a pretty much 4" bezel. It's water proof, dust proof, 13mega pixel camera, 2gb ram, etc... This phone is going to raise the bar on mobile devices.
I've had both....NoteII has way better battery life than the S3. Not that the S3 is a bad phone by any means. The stylus with the NoteII comes in handy more than you'd think. People were complaining about it fitting in the front pocket of their jeans, they must be like Skip and wearing skinny jeans cause it fits in my pocket just fine.
The multi-window feature on the NoteII is nice, haven't played with that much but its supposed to be coming to the S3 shortly.
The NoteII also has a setting for the dialpad to be left or right justified to help with one handed operation.
The NoteIII is rumored to be coming out later this year but will have a bigger screen which at around 6" will be too big.
The S4 is also rumored for late in the year but it doesn't sound like anything ground shattering at this point to bother waiting for.
Screen quality and call quality (Verizon) on both phones is good.
You really can't go wrong with either device.
As often as I am frustrated with the text messaging and freezing on my iPhone 4, I still can't imagine a world without it. I used to have the incredible and one other android, and while they were great phones, they just don't compare to the iPhone IMO.

Good luck switching Harry. I tried that once. I thought I was sick of the iPhone, so I bought something else. That was a train wreck because I was SO used to how the iPhone worked. Anything that has to do with Microsoft makes me want to shoot myself in the head. Everything is so difficult with their software. I love my iPhone 5. Has everything I need. And I know everyone says how much bigger their screen is on other phones, but frankly, I wouldn't want to carry something that big around all day.

Windows8 mobile or whatever its called isnt that bad, a huge learning curve when compared to Android/Apple. I had a few iPhones and much happier with Android.
I have a S3 (personal phone) for awhile now along with an iPhone (work)
I have just as many issues with my S3 as I do with my iPhone.
Going by my personal experience. The longer you use and abuse the phone by downloading and installing apps, the worse it gets.
Also I find it is best not to upgrade your old phone with the new phones software. Example installing iOS6 on the iPhone 4S. The old phones just don't have the performance to handle the new software version.
Harrison, my wife just switch from the iPhone to a galaxy SIII. She loves it. Only problem is that the battery isn't that strong. Now if you want something that has a great battery, get the phone I have..RAZR Maxx.. She was thinking of the note also but what alot of people say..it is big.
