So I need to replace the starter in my '08. Anyone either have one for sale or know where I can get a good one, preferably new not reman., for a good price?
I'm toying with the idea of rebuilding it too. Anyone ever done a starter rebuild? I'm looking for a step by step write up if anyone knows of one
When mine was going out I found out how much they are online $105 and called a local dealer. While they didnt match that price they came pretty close. Try it.

I know you were swaying away from reman. but you can get them at you local auto parts store for 180 ish and find one with a lifetime warranty. This is what i did and so far no problems. besides the pita install.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall
Torque is how far you take the wall with you.
its a pain in the ass to change! BUT, i just had it happen. you MAY NOT even need one. let me find my thread. But champion jeep priced one out for me and it was a helluva lot cheaper than any parts stores. Long story short, i pulled mine out. took it apart. cleaned the hell out of it with electric motor cleaner. put it back together and been working great ever since. that was over a month ago.

Thanks kmitch. I'm leaning towards pulling it out and taking it apart and try to clean it up and replace the inner workings for less than $40 for parts.
Thank you all for your input, keep it coming. When the weather warms up ill let you all know how I make out pulling it out.
Got the starter out yesterday, picked up the new one (reman) from the local Jeep dealer this morning. Surprisingly it was the cheapest one I could find, NAPA, Pep Boys and Advance were either more expensive or it would take over a week to order. Hoping to get it installed tomorrow, it's been raining all day today so no luck today.
