They cant enforce a law that is only for another state. I know theres at least one guy on here that lives in MA but has florida plates just so mass troopers cant bust his balls. Some cops are just douche bags; theres seems to be always one that his/ her pet peeve is window tint. When i had MO plates i never got bothered in mass with 5% tint. The min i got mass plates got stopped four diff towns

Second offense in IL is a misdemeanor and they can tow your vehicle if they want. Up to the officer and how well they know the laws.
Just like bumper height and frame height violations on lifted trucks........I generally read up on certain laws in the IL Vehicle Code, LOL

My Uncle is a sheriff in the County I live in and he was in court and this guy came up and this was his 3rd offense for having tinted windows. The judge fined him $1,500 and to get his tint removed.

Yeah bro Mass is crazy i was away four years in the south and midwest no issues. Moved back within a month pulled for tint, exhaust(told cop just past inspection), spinning tires(told cop needed new rubber) halo leds blue(cop stop oncoming traffic said if a cop sees you he will pull you over shut off lights and left) and idk how many warnings for tint. Needless to say im lucky and happy i do not live in that state. Tried to keep it relevant and not thread jack too much ha

Like I mentioned. Even after visiting DMV, you still can only go to a certain level. I believe on Va, you can only go to 35% on sides and its like 80 on windshield.

I've only gotten one ticket for the windshield but not the sides. Sides are matched to the back and the front is 50%.

It wasn't even a fix it ticket just a non moving violation, think it was for $150.00

I just paid it and left my tints on.

Glad NY isnt like that.

They just give you the tickets (90 per window) and you're on your merry way.

But tickets and running into situations like that is just the risk we take with our tints. Oh well.

Btw Johnny, you can have tinted tail lights in Virginia. They just have to be visible from 500 feet away.
