First gear is gonna be a HUGE difference compared to the 3.59 5speed.

from my understanding the Jeep at startup defaults into Auto mode and with ECO on. To take advantage of the 1st gear in the 8-speed the ECO dash button needs to be turned off. Seems the Jeep defaults to 2nd gear starts otherwise. That 1st gear should improve off the line performance.
I am curious to see the 14 in track mode, eco off, and launch control activated. I wonder how violent it can launch? and what times it'll attain?

Well im wondering what exactly does launch control do in these? Are we gonna be able to rev it up to 4-5K and hit it with little to no tire spin?! if so, i see 3 second 0-60's on a stock jeep

The stall is set at 2800 rpm on the torque convertor. So, just a guess, I could see a 2,000 rpm hold for launch control. Currently with my tuned 12 I will launch at 1500 rpm.

From the article in the original link...
"The Launch Control button activates a system that will optimize every possible setting for maximum acceleration off the line. Launch Control will prompt you to hold the brake, straighten the steering wheel and apply full throttle. As soon as you apply over 75 percent throttle the car goes into Launch Mode. The system will change the suspension settings to firm, turn off the traction control, stability control switches to Track, and change the torque split to 70-percent rear, 30-percent front — all with a simple touch of a button.
When you go to full throttle and the engine goes directly to optimum RPM, somewhere between 1400 and 2000 RPM and holds until you lift off the brake. When you do that, the car leaves the line, accelerating as hard as possible with maximum torque and minimum tire spin. As Roselli puts it, "all hell breaks loose." As soon as you do your run and you lift off the throttle all of those functions go back to whatever Selec-Track mode you were in. It is a very temporary thing. You do a fast time and it just reverts back."

hmmmm 70/30? interesting. figured it would be less traction that way
If I were going to spend $70k on a vehicle......I sure as hell won't be walking into a Jeep dealer...
I still don't get that reasoning. No reason Jeep can't build a quality vehicle that requests a 70k price tag.
So walking into a Nissan dealer to buy a 100k plus car is alright?
Every car manufacture had to start somewhere. Jeep is progressing to the top. If they keep refining their technology, interiors, features, drivability, luxury, and lineup, then there's no reason not to build a top of the line/premium vehicle that requires a 70k tag.
