275/40/20 tires rear?

Hi guyz i have bought winter tires - front standart size 255/45/20 but rears little tighter - 275/40/20 instead of original 285/40/20, and since that i have issuing a problem - while harder accelerating the car sounds like on bumpy road - strange noises from under the car.. Is it caused by tires or what?

our jeeps are awd, the total diameter of the front and back wheels have to be very close to the same size. i would suggest not driving your jeep until you get the correct tire sizes

Yeah they need to be with 3% I believe. Otherwise they can really **** up your transfer case.

you can also look at revs per mile on the tire sizes to help understand it. i just ordered new tires for winter, the nitto motivos in the 275/40/20 up front and the 315/35/20 for the back.

Thanks for answers! But it is very bad you did not really make me happy ok i it my fault, i bought tighter tires becaose of they are barely used in excellent conditon for great prize, did not realize it will be that big problem
Ok i ´ve dona some searching and i think i have 3 options to fix it, please confirm me if i am right:
1) get rid of 275 rear and buy new original 285 rear
2) leave 275/40 in rear and buy the same sized 275/40 for front
3) put 275 from rear to front and buy 315's for rear.

I do not like 1 cause this 275 or in really good conditon and my fronts will need to be replaced anyway in next year, I would prefer 2nd option because i do not think 315 will be good choice for winter? What do you guyz think?

will do, it took me 2 months to decided between those and the 295/265 proxy II set. decided to give the motivos a try out since they seemed like a little better of a "get over wolf creek tire" little nervous about them being wider but we will see!!

first off what kind of tires are your 275s? like you said martyn, you could put your 275s up front and buy 315s for the rear. or you could keep your 275/40/20s in the back and buy a set of 245/45/20s for the front. you might end up like me and run different brand tires front and back like i did for the past 2 years. i know the nitto motivos come in 245/45/20 and those would work with your 275/40/20s out back.

Ok guyz, thanks for help! Problem solved, i have bought another set of 275/40 for front and car runs great! It was a bit prizey, but at least i have great winter nokian wr's all around hope it will snow soon to test them out
It is very hard to get 255/45 or 285/40 tires in ny country, do not know what i ´m going to do in spring - i have still paif of very nice oem good years for front, but nothing for rear( i will probably order something from us now and get them boat shipped to have them in march or so..
