Get your evidence and take it to court. With that many mistakes the prosecuter will throw it out

Also, she got the speed limit wrong cuz I was actually in a 70 zone instead of an 80 zone, which is what I'm supposedly being charged with..
On Alberta tickets anything below the charge line (just above where the speed is indicated) doesn't matter. They could have written nothing and it wouldn't matter. Officer notes on the back of the police copy is what they go by in court. Go the first appearance center. That's what they're there for. My guess is they will toss the noise ticket if you plead guilty to the speed. They probably won't just drop the speed without a trial. In Alberta, crown prosecutors and traffic court commissioners are unable to not assign demerits, that is the juristiction of the registry. In other words, you can't plead guilty/pay a speeding ticket and not have demerits assigned. It would have to be changed to a different charge that doesn't have demerits assigned.
Feel free to PM me if you have a question about the process.

On my last estimated ticket. The prosecutor changed the charge. The fine stayed but the demerits disappeared. Are you saying that a noise infraction can be estimated as well. Cause that if BS! If she actually measured it than that is different. I think all estimated infractions should be thrown out. I don't care if they are trained, mistakes can be made. That was my speech to the prosecutor and he agreed, but unless I wanted to stick around for a trial, I would still have to pay a fine, but without demerits. A money grab. I already lost more than the fine in wages so I just paid it and moved on.

Oh I know all too well how the process works. I've had numerous tickets given to me illegally and incompetently, and I'm sick of it. Roadboys right, the whole estimated thing is bullshit, if she didn't even know what speed zone I was in, how educated was she in estimating speed...? To answer the point about the noise thing, that ticket is also void because my exhaust is completely stock, and therefore has to fit regulations set by a government body, and even if it was too loud, police vans are not fitted with sound pressure devices to give these tickets out, only bylaw officer vans are (96db is the limit in Calgary). due to all this, they will look very silly in front of the courthouse trying to argue with me on this. No I will not just pay a ticket to get out of another one, I am right here, and I will stand behind what I know is true, I will pay a ticket if I am truly guilty of. I the past 2 years I've received 5 tickets for various things, all of which I have got out of, due to me not actually doing anything. I know I sound like I'm just crying becuse of it, but I can afford everything to due with this ticket, and will probably end up losing more money from taking time off work than it'll end up costing me, but I am not standing for an unjust ticket given by an officer showing off to her trainee. That is my piece lol sorry for getting so angry gents. And thanks for the help Edmontonsrt8

Didn't you just have the resonator cut out of your "stock exhaust"?lol But I think 96db is like a jet going directly over your head at the airport I've never heard any exhaust that loud on the road.

I agree on the estimated speed is bs. They said they are trained to do that but we are trained to match the speedo with the speed sign too. And which one is easier to make mistake?

This is current and correct. I too have been through the process many times before. Years ago one could get the demerits dropped all together and just pay the fine. These days unless you get the charge dropped all together (or fight it and get off), best you can hope for is a reduction in the demerits / fine.

As for the sound ticket that is also BS. Only people that should be getting these fines are bikes (mainly Harleys) than you need to ‘pause’ your conversation on summer patios till they go by. No way a stock jeep with res deletes is loud enough for this. I have that setup on mine and never had any issues in 3 years in Calgary.

Sorry about your situation and good luck with at first appearance.
